New Features Including Ability to Download Investment Balances
(pathTags: dateCr:20080325 blogId:.eff0c46 blogCategory:Features status:published blogTag:features blogTag:investments)
All, We added some new features to the product yesterday:

* We've added many popular investment and loan institutions to our list - We've added institutions such as E*Trade, Merrill Lynch, SalomonSmithBarney, Putnam Investments, T. Rowe Price Investments, TIAA-CREF Investments, Sallie Mae Loan, Fidelity NetBenefits, Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, TD Ameritrade, Countrywide, and AIG Retirement.

So, now you may be able to track investment, CD, mortgage, or loan accounts that you couldn't track in Quicken Online before. (For investment accounts, you won't be able to see every detail of your holdings in each security; you can only track some limited transactions and your balances.)

To find out if we added your institution, click Add from the Home page and search for your institution. We'll also be adding more investment institutions in the coming weeks.

* The My Accounts page does more and also got a facelift - There's a reason it doesn't look clunky any more: we added some new features to make it more truly the headquarters for your accounts. Now you can change an account's sign-in info, add accounts, delete accounts, change the name of an account, and navigate to the transactions in an account (click the account number).

* You can edit a bunch of transactions at once - Ever wanted to change all the transactions from a particular payee all at once? Maybe you want to shorten the payee name and also assign them all to the same category? Now you can do that. Your change affects future transactions, too.

Go to the Track Spending tab, select your widest date range and all your accounts, and then click Payee. You can select any payee's row and change the Payee name and the category. It's a huge timesaver.

Additionally, we apologize for any problems getting your latest data into the product. It's an issue we are aware of and that we are working hard to fix.

Keep the feedback coming and let us know what other features you'd like to see in the product.

Thanks, Barron

Great news! Any idea when Thrift Savings Plan will join the list? Thanks! KS

This is great and definitely important. Would love to be able to store other types of accounts like insurance products for instance. Even though it's not something that really needs routine updating, it's so nice to have everything stored in one place.

This makes a massive difference. All I'm missing if Vanguard, but E*Trade and Schwab were great adds. Thanks!!

Thanks for the suggestion about budgeting features. This is definitely in the works, but we're working on it as part of a larger set of features, so it will be a little while until you'll see it in the product.

I second the comment on adding a budget feature. I'd like to come back to Quicken Online if this was added with a way to define custom dates for a budget that shows up on the Home Page when you log in (similar to Mint.com). My wife gets paid on the 25th of each month and we budget from then to the 24th of the next month. I would come back for that sole enhancement. It would also be great to have a way to Import OFX or QIF files from other programs.

Hey Barron, Thanks for the great enhancements... Concerning added features...I'd just like to say once more that a budgeting feature would be tremendously helpful. Just something that would allow me to set Monthly budgets using the categories I define. Is that in the works at all?

Just discovered this product and congratulations it has great potential. Two requests: Please could we download more than 90 days data to begin. Second, when tracking expenditure please create an option to select "all accounts."
