I was just wondering if anyone out there in forum-land isusing the prescription refill reminder tool. If so, how often? If not, why not?

As always, thank you! Your comments are really helpful.

My prescription process is pretty simple so I don't use the reminder tool. I use three prescription drugs, take one per day, and refill every 30 days.

The prescriptions have been coordinated to need a refill at pretty much the same time. I use one of those 7 day pill containers ... and when the bottle count is low after a weekly pill box refill, it's time to contact the pharmacy. It's a visual/physical reminder rather than an electronic reminder. :-)

I'm sure there are much more complex Rx refill needs which could benefit from the MEM reminder process. I also suspect it would be a valuable tool when assisting someone else with prescription management. I look forward to reading other posts.

I've got something like 18 meds, but my process is the same as Wayward's ... I just order a whole lot more at one time.

Besides the sheer numbers of meds, there's the complications of when I take them: some are once daily - anytime, some once daily - bedtime, some twice daily, some weekly. And the dosages also add to the complexity: some are 2 at a time, some 1.5 at a time, some 0.5 at a time, some are 1 at a time. And then there's the delivery method: most are pills, but there are 3 sprays, 1 eye-drops, a patch and 2 creams/gels.

Doing a visual check when I'm doing the weekly refill of the TWO pill containers is just about mandatory.

THINK IT THRU! Have you explained your issue so that someone who knows nothing about you, or YOUR Quicken setup, can understand what your issue is? Are you using standard Quicken terminology, particularly with respect to FILES, ACCOUNTS and CATEGORIES?

I have not used the reminder because I use a calendar program (Lotus Organizer) to keep track of all the date related and reminder related information that I need. It doesn't make sense for me to use multiple places/programs for remimders.

I would like to use the refill reminder, but I really need a portable version on the Palm/PPC platform.

I'd be more likely to use this if it integrated with Outlook & other calendar programs like those mentioned by others. My system is pretty simple - when I see bottles are getting low - order refill (usually in bulk for monthly & 90-day rx's).

In addition, some meds need regular refills but not all. It may be a standard med but still used PRN & not daily.

Just a follow-up to my earlier post. I set a couple of reminders to play around with the feature. It's a good implementation and could be useful for someone not already using some other general reminder tool ... like MS Outlook and others.

Personally, I use Yahoo Calendar for all of my schedule and task management. The advantage is Web based, always available, and the e-mail reminder feature reaches you on the road, at the office, or at home.

This is not a commercial for Yahoo Calendar, just an indication that the MEM reminder feature is a nice but not essential add-on. Not essential, unless someone is not using one of the more comprehensive calendar programs or wants a specific medical event reminder function.
