Hi all -

Two questions here relating to the FSA section. I really haven't taken advantage of this section so far since I've mostly focused on the insurance aspect since I started using MEM. However, I want to take full advantage of this section w/'06.

1) Will/Can the new version allow us to enter in how much money we've set aside at the beginning of the year for our Medical FSA accounts? Since medical accts are available immediately (regardless if you've paid in the full amount), it would be easier to keep track of the balance available.

2) Having a "FSA Amount Remaining" (perferable) or YTD "FSA Reimbursed" would be terrific. Which leads me to

3) Need additional drop down boxes:

- Eligible/Reached Annual Maximum

- Denied

Quicken Lisa: just wanted you to be aware of something that our company is offering in '06 that's new. We now have a choice of getting FSA $$ via the standard reimbursement methods (Check or direct deposit) or now a Debit Master Card preloaded with the set amount. We have to choose one or the other (I chose the standard since that's better for our personal situation). Don't know if this is something that makes a difference in anything you set up in v2 but thought I'd share it with you.

Hi Barrie, and all,

There won't be many changes to the FSA section in the next version. While I know it's important, demand was stronger for better tracking of insurance deductibles, credit balances/overpayments, installment payments, etc. You will be able to track how much has been reimbursed from your FSA.

I've heard of those debit cards for drawing down FSAs, though I haven't used one myself. Question for others out there... Have you used these cards? Have you used QMEM to track them? How does that work for you?

Thanks as always for the good comments!

- Lisa

Have you used these cards?

Our provider offered the debit cards as well, but we ended up having to submit all the paperwork anyway. The only benefit I saw in using the cards was if you didn't want to "float" the expense. For me it was easier to just send in the receipt and get the reimbursement.

My FSA group doesn't require me to submit "every" item via paper. They do require reciepts that have OTC items on them, or expenses from non-doctors/pharmacies.

FYI

I am the opposite of the others here. I was issued a card this year and have been using it. It really helps while running on a tight budget to not have to wait up to two weeks for an FSA reimbursement. There isn't a option that really satisfies this type transaction so I have been entering them as Payment Method "Other". I would really like to see the Payment Method as an editable field. I would like to be able to enter items such as FSA card, Mastercard, Discover, Visa, Gift card, etc.
