I have not yet bought this software, but it does sound interesting. First of all, one of my methods for shopping software is to peruse a manual to see just what the software can do, and how it is done. I cannot find a download area or a link for a pdf file for QMEM. This would be a sales enhancer, I would think. .
Secondly, I read a post that concerns me. This had to do with problems scrolling. There has been no real visual description of this problem, and more importantly, no updates on progress toward fixing what seemed to a few people to be quite important, and something like this could be highly annoying to me. A monthly update as to problems in general that are being worked on, and whether progress is anticipated would go a long way toward assuring paranoid types like me.

There isn't one.

I believe this has been mentioned before, but you might have to peruse the legacy forum to find it.

If you were to see it, you'd realize that the descriptions that currently exist are reasonably descriptive.

Updates on a issue that is not going to be addressed in version 2... ever... doesn't seem like a reasonable use of the development team's time; nor of the time I and other forum members would waste reading it.
And if you really are still on Windows ME, then the problem will probably be worse for you than it is for me. You are right to be cautious.

Being a Quicken user, I'm sure you are familiar with the 60-day money back guarantee. The same holds for QMEM.
And sorry for being so terse, I need to rush off to work.
I concur with Tony's statement that the situation is unlikely to be remedied in version 2 ... the fundamental problem appears to be one of architecture -- and something that deep just isn't addressed in maintenance releases.
There IS, however, a reasonable work-around. In V2, there's the ability to filter the "Expense Log" (which is the screen where the scrolling problem manifests) to view only the "Open" events. This greatly limits the data on that screen and, at least for me, eliminates the scrolling issue.
When I want info on other events (or, for example, on all instances of the purchase of a certain medicine), I'll use the "Cost Calculator" screen/report with appropriate filters set.
If you look around this forum, you'll note that I've posted regularly (and NOT favorable to Intuit) on the scrolling issue. So I'll submit that if I've found a satisfactory (not perfect, mind you) work-around, that the issue MAY be less onerous that you're envisioning.

THINK IT THRU! Have you explained your issue so that someone who knows nothing about you, or YOUR Quicken setup, can understand what your issue is? Are you using standard Quicken terminology, particularly with respect to FILES, ACCOUNTS and CATEGORIES?
Thanx for your advice; I did eventually find another link on this to a more descriptive series of posts. Your post is the kind of info I was looking for.
It would seem that Microsoft would be concerned about this; .net is central to their strategy for the forseeable future.
I'll dive in and say that I'm in pretty much the same situation as Tony and dbAnalyst. Following the release of Version 2, I was pretty vocal in the forums concerning what has generally been referred to as the *scrolling problem*.
Basically, it includes a combination of sluggish scrolling in the main Expense Log, program launch time, and screen refresh after data entry. As you have read, the problem seems to be a result of the .net architecture and a near term fix is unlikely.
Like Tony and dbAnalyst, I feel the value of the program features offsets the sluggishness of the Expense Log. Since report screens do not have this problem, workarounds using various report features are a very reasonable compromise.
I'd say give MEM a trial run and see what you think. There's a money back guarantee. ;-)
I've been offline the last several days which is why I've been more quiet than usual. I'll sketch out an answer to what I think were the original questions quickly... :-)
What does MEM look like? On <url=http://www.quickenmedical.com>"quickenmedical.com"</url>, there is some information about MEM, including a "View the Product demo" button (about halfway down the right side of the page, for me).
Is scrolling speed still an issue? It is in the Expense Log, particularly if you're looking at many expenses there. As db and others have noted, you can limit the expenses shown in the Expense Log, and you can go to Find or Cost Calculator to find or filter or browse expenses (which is what those features were designed for). Not an ideal solution but most people have found it usable.
<Incidentally, we have found a very useful person in Microsoft (no, I'm not telling you his name, you can't have him) (but he's certainly improving my perception of MS) who is helping us address some of the installation issues around Microsoft's .NET. I'll post here when we've settled down the diagnosis process. However, these are unlikely to fix the scrolling issue... which is why this comment is "incidental".>
Lastly, I strongly encourage browsing these forums (and searching them too). There's a lot of great information here. Even though everyone maybe has somewhat different medical situations, everyone still has to deal with medical billing (unfortunately)... and the folks in this forum are good about sharing the knowledge they've learned (generally the hard way).
And having browsed, please feel free to post new questions, too.
