Unless I'm missing something, QMEM seems to apply the first $x against the individual and family deductibles. This seems to be making problems for me because I don't seem to have a place where I can record which particular expense the insurer chose to apply the deductible against. Thus if I run a deductible report QMEM has applied different expenses against the deductible than my insurer did. This problem is compounded by the fact that my insurer seems to process some claims faster than others, so I frequently have the deductible applied to treatment dates that are later than claims that are paid. Is there a way to specifically assign a particular non-reimbursement to the deductible?

I am having the exact same problem. Add to that, the fact that my insurance company applied too much to the deductible! I had to make an Excel spreadsheet to figure out where the problem was. I was hoping this program would help catch things like that.

I have sent a feedback message to support. I hope this is a problem that can be addressed and corrected soon.

I had the same problem. I also had to make a spreadsheet in XL. There seems to be no solution to this problem as Quicken applies the first excluded amounts to deductible. I have fixed my Quicken (bandaid fix) to reflect the same amounts as the ins. co. by changing the date the service was performed. Then I go into the billing notes and make sure I record the date change for accounting purposes. Lea1

Same here. Copays are not deductibles.

Please update the 'My Payments & Copays' dialog to have both a checkbox for Copays and another checkbox for Deductibles. That way we are in control of designating which money is subtracted from the Deductibles. Otherwise, the 'Deductibles/OOP Max' report is useless.

Same here, too. I noticed that there's a "copay" checkbox for each entry under "my payments & copays", but I'm not sure how that relates in either.

One thing I did find was in the online help. There's a help screen entitled "About copays and deductibles", which lists a workaround. The instructions are to list the copay as a separate service. I was able to follow these instructions, which led to the report showing accurate totals for my deductible.

However, my insurer counts copays toward the out-of-pocket maximum. Now that I've elminated my insurer from the copay service, my out-of-pocket amount on the Deductibles/OOP report is missing all of those expenses. How do I handle this situation?

If your copay counts toward your OOP max, I think that I'd NOT list the copay as a separate service ... and instead list it as a separate PAYMENT. Possibly the only payment if insurance/write-off covers the rest.

THINK IT THRU! Have you explained your issue so that someone who knows nothing about you, or YOUR Quicken setup, can understand what your issue is? Are you using standard Quicken terminology, particularly with respect to FILES, ACCOUNTS and CATEGORIES?

My insurer counts the copays toward the OOP max but not toward the deductible. If I include the copay portion in with the rest of the billed amount on one line in the list of services, my copay amount will show up in the deductible report; that's why I haven't been able to do it that way.

The short answer is that you won't be able to get both reports to give you the right numbers. Cross your fingers for v3 [but don't hold your breath as you'll suffocate in the interim].
