Quicken Medical Expense Manager V2 2008
the latest time I tried to add data to Quicken Medical Expense Manager I got an error message stating:
The Data File you Requested cannot be Opened.
I tried the backup file and got the same message. Someone please tell me I shouldn't panic. I have nursing home records that I need for an upcoming court case.

I purchased, downloaded and installed QMEM V2.1.2.10 last week. It installed with no problem on my Vista Home Premium Laptop. I set up the people, providers, insurers and entered several different types of claims/bills/payments.
I am now evaluating the product to determine if it will meet my needs. The Quicken Community and Quicken QMEM knowledge base has some very good suggestions on how to use QMEM for different situations.
Well, yesterday, I went to continue my evaluation and I got the CANT OPEN DATA FILE error. I had not backed up the data file yet and rebooting PC and removing and installing QMEM did not resolve problem. Apparently the data file became corrupted. I had no choice but to start and new file and rekey everything.
I am now leaning towards requesting a refund as this should not happen. I would not want to enter a whole year of data and then lose it.
For now I will keep evaluating it during the 60 day refund period and see if there is any more info in the Community or Knowledge base about this. If I decide to keep it though, I plan to continue using excel to manage my info.

I don't know all about your problem, but very first thing I would try would be to rename your data files (there are usually four or five files that make up one big data file, with the same data name but varying extensions) to a file name that is EIGHT CHARACTERS OR LESS without any special characters. I would start there, and see if that gets you anywhere.
