Cannot open "any" backup diles

Quicken Premier 2004

This post is about: Quicken Medical Expense Manager V2 2007
On 6/23/2009, I backed up my "current" data file and gave the backup file a different name. Today, 6/24/2009, I cannot open any backup file (I have about 7). And error message is posted: "Data file previously used cannot be opened" and displays file location.

A friend suggested that I move the backup files to desktop and then try to open them from the desktop. (It worked for me.)
