is the iphone app suceptible to this hack??? Jul 27, 2009 02:09 pm
This post is about: Quicken Online
Hi Claudio,
Thanks for your concern and for asking the question. Security is always one of our top concerns at Intuit – it’s something customers like you have trusted us to put first for more than 25 years.
The article you cite doesn’t introduce anything we didn’t prepare for in advance. We built in an extra layer of security into Quicken Online Mobile, the Passcode, beyond what most apps offer. If you DID happen to misplace your phone and had the Passcode setting on (you can set this up in Quicken Online Mobile in Settings ->Require Passcode) no one would even be able to see your Quicken Online Mobile information.
Worst-case scenario, if you had no Passcode set and your phone was stolen by a hacker, the only thing the person could see is read-only data that they couldn’t transact with. What this means is that no one could move money in or out of your accounts, or see any personally identifiable information (i.e. account numbers, your name or log-in information) since none of it is stored within Quicken Online Mobile. Of course, if your iPhone has been stolen and hacked, make sure that you log in to Quicken Online and change your password to keep anyone from even seeing this read-only, non-transactional data going forward.
