Checks automatically renamed with wrong payees

This is driving me nuts - Every single time I write a check, the payee and category are automatically entered to be whatever I wrote the last check for, regardless of amount or time of month. So if I write a check for $15 for a magazine, it puts in my landlord and says it's "Rent" unless I change it -- And then my next rent check comes up as payment for a magazine!
How do I turn off this annoying "feature" so I can just see that it's a new check that I need to figure out who it was to and what it was for and then rename it myself?
