I know this is a brand new service and that things will be added as time goes on (which is the beauty of it!), so I figured I would start a thread now for all of the crucial things people might find that it is currently missing. Hopefully this list is obsolete soon :)
1) Budget Tracker
This is a standard feature in every financial product (even Mint, a free service), and could be one of the most useful parts of having this online program accessible on a mobile device. In my opinion, this is a "must have" if I am going to pay for this service.
Hopefully there is simple graphical & textual representation for both local and mobile interfaces. Give me anything graphical except for a pie chart :)
2) Custom Bill Reminders
It seems like Quicken is already on this one, as there is a forum dedicated to "Setting up bill reminders". Hopefully this feature comes soon!
3) Mobile Modifications to Payee Name & Category
Hopefully this is fixed soon, as iPhone & other power mobile users will be disappointed with the steep difference in interactive features between local & mobile interfaces. Right now, the only interactive part to the iPhone interface is entering transactions, and once the transaction is entered it is un-editable until you get back on your computer.
4) Online Bill Pay from both Computer and Mobile (at least computer)
5) Modification of Multiple Transactions
The online interface requires individual editing of transaction payee name, category, notes, etc.. I had to copy paste countless times to successfully name my older transactions from the same payee. A simple shift click (as in all desktop finance applications) should be able to select multiple transactions and modify them all at once.
For me the sub-categories and budget options are a must as well and I am hoping those features will be added as well. Also, it is dissapointing not beeing able to add transactions older than 90 days of startup. My fiscal year is Jan.1 - Dec. 31 and that is how I like to plan my budget but since I started in June I can only go back to April.
Other issues:
1) missing split transactions
2) had to get creative getting a zip code as I live in Canada
3) chart options would be good
4) limited uses with itouch or iphone
Plus points:
1) I found it easy to setup accounts
2) Access it from a mac or various types of operating systems
3) simple to use
4) pie chart has nice features when you slide the mouse over or click on it.
5) ideal when you travel a lot
I have been using the desktop version of Quicken since 1997 and think its the best thing out there for personal finance although investment transactions are kind of quirky. I started playing with Quicken Online when it first came out and was pretty disappointed (I know, it's new and under-developed), especially when I started to use mint.com. I am a loyal Intuit customer, but you guy's have some work to do to get in the same ball field as mint.
I really like the idea of the online and mobile interface because I can share the same (mobile) log in with my wife and we can both be on the same page regarding our finances and budget (currently using mint) That said, my priority enhancements would include the following:
1) SPLIT TRANSACTIONS!!! I will not use Quicken Online exclusively until this happens.
2) Sub-Categories
3) Ability to transfer between accounts would be nice (but not necessary)
4) Multiple Transaction Edit
5) Transaction Tags
6) Investment Performance and Analysis
7) Desktop Synchronization
Kudos on the memorized payee (this feature is really slick) It would be nice to report only on a selected payee with sub-total although you can sort by (ascend/descend) in the transaction list. I am also sure I speak for all users by loving the fact that you guys are not junking up the interface with advertisements. Keep up the great work and we look forward to much progress!
Setup your credit card as its own account and categorize each transaction. When you pay your credit card you just code that transaction to 'Transfer Out'. The transfer in and out categories do not affect your balances.
Since some financial services are hard to support (for example Paypal Plus Credit Card) it would be really helpful if I can upload ofx/qfx files and avoid online synch drama.
the ability to create rules that recategorize or rename future transactions based on past modifications, and the ability to globally modify the names/categories of old transactions.
Weekly recurring Transactions - please show them projected out further than the coming week
I have one transaction that occurs every week. It only shows in upcoming transactions for the next immediate week. In order for me to actually see a true outlook for the coming month I have to add 'one time' payments for that transaction for each forthcoming date through the upcoming month. When the same recurring event does populate I then have to delete the duplicate one time payment to rebalance. My only complaint! Aside from that I am trying to get everyone I know to use this program. Also am a MAC user, so this works perfect as a lot of budget/finance software does not run.
Split Transactions
How about being able to split transactions...
Is it me, or does the Online Quicken blow away any other version? I've been using it for three days now.
I've used the Mac Version (Awful! I won't go there), Home and Business, and Rental Management all in the last 10 years. I'm really enjoying this version and would wonder why I would even purchase it any more. Am i missing something? Am I going to get addicted to it and then have Quicken start charging me to use it? What's in it for them???? Help me understand it, because I'm ignorant about this stuff!!!

They started the online version with a monthly fee and then they turned it into a free version.
It looks like it will stay free.
I would like to see split transactions. It's been a while since I've used Quicken but I use to split my paycheck out with gross income and the various taxes. This would also be helpful to track bank fees on ATM withdraws. Example $100 to cash & $3.00 to bank fees. Maybe the online version can already do this but I have not been able to crack the code.
would be useful to have the ability to enter more than one email address or phone number for alerts and notices. Also, would be nice to be able to select daily notification on budget category performance so as to know where you stand on a dialy basis.
First I want to say that this is an awesome product, I am amazed by its abilities and the interface is fun, creative, and still functional. Thanks Quicken/Intuit!
I'd love to see a little check box or just a way to mark some transactions as tax deductible, AND, since you added the feature of breaking things down into multiple categories, have it give you the ability to say how much is tax deductible, which categories are tax deductible, and give a reason why it is tax deductible. Also, being given the ability to see only the tax deductible items on one screen (being given the option to, if a transaction was broken down into partly deductible and partly not, see the whole transaction or only the tax deductible piece) and do a print of the items for the week month and year. Having that list also have check boxes would be nice so I can make sure I have all the receipts there too would be a plus.
Also, on the budgeting software being able to break up my goals into daily, weekly, and monthly would be nice.
I hope you guys keep this product as a free service, I know as it gets more and more attention it can very much help the economy of America and more importantly the American people as a whole, as I remember having heard that one year american's average savings was -1%! Thank you for putting so much work and effort into creating this program.
Would like to see an option under regularly scheduled payments where you can input your own interval for regularly paid bills.. for instance, instead of twice monthly, or monthly, quarterly or yearly, I have a bill that gets charged bi-monthly -- every two months. There is currently no option for this.
I've used Quicken Home & Business for many years and need that level of detail and features. But I travel a lot and would like to access my Quicken online. There should be a way to upload data files or sync files from the desktop to the online service. Even if all the features and capabilities are not available online, at least the data would match.

Would it work for you if you create 6 yearly scheduled payments?
On the trends tab, what I need to know is what is unusual in my spending. I'd like to know when I'm 10% over the average spending for a category, and then be able to easily see the unusual transactions in that category.
I cannot import the data from my Quicken Online account because Quicken Online only downloads to .csv format which is not an import option in 2010.

Split transactions works within Quicken just fine, but not when downloading transactions. The export file just has "Multiple" as the Category and doesn't split the transaction.
I would like the export file to split the transaction because most of my financial analytics is done outside of Quicken (I use QlikView to build my own dashboards, charts, gauges, etc.).
My other request is the ability to download account balances, once again, so that I can use that data to build my dashboards and charts in QlikView.
That way I'm not limited to what Quiken has built and I can fully customize the presentation of the data for my needs.
The change that would help me the most is to be able to subcategorize. For example, I could categorize a transaction into a main category, e.g. food, and then sub-categorize it into groceries, dining out, etc. That way I can analyze my overall spending on food and break it down to see how I can make adjustments based on each category of food. This would make tracking my spending much easier in the pie chart.
