I don't like how Quicken Online automatically deletes upcoming transactions. I consider my upcoming transactions to be like my check register where I cross check them with the posted transactions (since there is no bank rec feature in Quicken Online). When they automatically delete them I have to go dig up my receipt once again to make sure that was a valid charge that posted to my account (since I can't remember everything). I'd love an account setting where can tell Quicken Online not to automatically delete upcoming transactions, I want to delete them manually after I see them post. Can I trick the system by putting in a bogus prefix to my payee so that Intuit Online is not able to "match" them successfully, thus doesn't automatically delete it? I'd need to know how it does the matching to know how to trick it. So far, it's only manually deleted one transaction, so far their matching process seems to fail much more often than it is successful, which is fine by me! LOL
Can I set my account to manually delete upcoming transactions? Nov 13, 2008 06:44 pm
This post is about: Quicken Online
I'm able to partially answer my own question. I found that when it automatically deletes a manually entered upcoming transaction it keeps the payee you entered when it moves it down to posted. So, I make a point to add an "CR" (short for check register) in front of all payees in my upcoming transactions, so when it moves it down to posted I can distinguish between those transactions I manually entered and those that just showed up (which could be fraudulent or I hadn't yet entered as an upcoming transaction). So, this workaround should be Ok for now since it prevents me from having to double check a posted transaction against my receipts. I thought it erased my payee entering the one the bank received, but it's nice, and keeps the one you entered in the upcoming area.
