I am looking for a way to track expenses verses income in Quicken online. It is great that the program tracks all of my spending in all of my accounts. However, what I really want is a way to see, at the end of the month, if I am in the red or black. Can this program do that?

Hi njbordas,

You can definitely do this in Quicken Online--this is the great thing about the "RealBalance"--it gives you how much you have minus the upcoming bills on the horizon--to let you know how much you have left to spend.

You can also see how you're trending with the spending chart on the homepage--just click "View Chart" on the right to check out how you're doing, and where Quicken Online predicts you will end up.

Finally, you can set up monthly goals under the goals tab.  Just tell Quicken Online how much you want to spend for the month, and add the various categories you'd like to track.  Quicken will then give you a running balance of your expenditures and how much you have left in each category and overall.

HTH--here's an FAQ with more detailed information about setting up your goals and budget--

I think njbordas is looking for a way to compare what he's made in a month, against what he's spent. Quicken online has many fine ways to track expense, but no real way to track income, and compare. Did I spend more than I made? How much have I saved? I agree with njbordas that this is missing from quicken online.
