Is there a non hacky way to split a transaction into 2 categories? e.g. half the transaction was a gift and the other half clothing. Thanks!

Apparently not. If true, this is a real weakness in this product.

Well...heck...if you can't show transactions as split categories what's the point of the product if you can't track where your money is going?

I certainly do hope this is rectified.

I decided to try quicken after having problems with duplicate transactions on mint.com but it sounds like quicken has the same issues and Mint's budget set-up and the ability to split transactions make it way better.

This was supposed to have been added by now...see below response from many months ago......

We're working on adding splits. We should have them included in the site in the next couple of months.

Thanks for being patient with this - shouldn't be too long.

    Thanks,

Are there any plans to add a reconcile check box to the ledger in order to more easily reconcile account and determine if duplicate transactions are occurring?

I keep checking back in to see if this is available yet. Not much good without it, when you're getting cash with groceries, with drugstore purchases, etc., etc. Hardly ever visit an atm anymore. Your system just doesn't reflect modern life.

What is the point, Quicken people, if we can't split up personal and home-based business expenses on the same transaction? If they can do this in the application, why not online? I thought this would be a viable option, instead of paying near $80 for the Mac version. Love the iPod Touch app, though. Very nice.

Are you serious? No split transactions? I just wasted an hour setting up an account. I had been using Quicken since before it was even on Windows, but that's it. Guess I can't complain about a free product - you get what you pay for ... but I'm surprised they use the Quicken name for it.

This feature is available now. When you click on the transaction, you should see a small tab labeled "Details". Click on it, and on the bottom right you will see Add Another Category. This is where you can split the categories.

Thank you - finally an answer.
So easy, click on details, and add the details of your check or deposit. Yahoo.

Why doesn't someone from Quicken reply to this? It is affecting a lot of us.
