just started and want to reconcile my account. I added a check i had written but had not yet cleared. it appears in my upcoming transactions. Now it has cleared in my bank and shows in my transactions but has not reconciled so it is being subtracted twice.

Once a cleared transaction appears, just click the upcoming trans you created and click delete in the header.
My process:
I enter ALL of my monthly recurring bills (utils, mortgage, insurance, etc) into the upcoming transactions (as recurring - monthly, weekly, etc) and delete each reoccurance as they clear. These recurring transactions will re-appear for the next period as a reminder.
I also tend to create individual one-time entries for all the POSs, ATMs, etc as they happen - and delete them once they appear in the cleared list below. If you use the service in this way, the "Today's RealBalance" should reflect pretty accurately.
