How do I add an account not associated with a financial institution? I am on the "Add a New Account" page, but this doesn't seem to be an option. There are only a list of bank names sorted alphabetically. The online help states "choose 'This account is not held at a financial institution', and then click Next." I can't find that option anywhere. Can anyone help??!! Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately no, you can't add a second cash account. Depending on how you manage your finances, you might consider creating another Quicken Online account for your spouse.
Another possibility is to create separate categories for the areas you are interested in. For instance, you could create a category Dining -- Husband and another one Dining -- Wife if you want to be able to track each of your spending separately.

The community I live in has a golf club/restaurant that allows you to sign for items/meals and they bill you monthly. If I had the ability to have this as a cash account which I could manage manually, it would help. Right now I can only put the expenses in when I get billed and I have to manually break down the bill to get them in the proper categories.

I need to be able to include non-financial institution information. I thought when I started this that I would be able to mirror what I have in my Quicken accounts on my computer. This is not acceptable.

Its been a year and Quicken has yet to add cash accounts or the ability to add accounts quicken does not support from their list. I sent the suggestion a year ago to add the account for a loan I have for a Nissan and the financial institution has yet to be added a year later. Quicken Online is worthless without this.

I would like to track my financial portfolio using Quicken Online. In order to do that I will need to add more than one cash account and assets (not associated with banks).

Dear quicken team,
If you are not solving the "add accounts not related to supported financial institutions" issue and if you just won´t give us any clue if this is going to happen sometime soon... could you at least recommend one of your competitors that does have the feature?... i´d appreciate it...

From what I'm reading, I cannot add an account that's not with my bank. That is insane. Isn't this supposed to be a budgeting program? I thought so. But I can't add credit cards, utility payments, or things like the cable bill or my weekly spending on gas for the car. Very disappointing.
You can add most credit cards because they are associated with known financial institutions.
I add bills and spending i want to track through "upcoming transactions" in the checking/credit card accounts that i CAN include.i can account for one-time transactions, such as money i'm planning on spending for a friends' birthday, OR i can put a repeating transaction such as a utility bill or other payment. when i do this, my planned spending is included in the "goals" section, so i can budget better.

I have a personal loan with my father that I make payments on every two weeks. It would be great if Quicken would allow my to enter the balence owed and update it after I have made a payment.

I have to put in my two cents on this one too. I have a couple accounts that are through FI, but they do not offer online services. I would like to be able to track those accounts without having to log in to online services. I have a mortgage through a private lender, that I cannot track using this software, and a credit card that does not have internet services.
I find it very annoying that Quicken would not have this option available.

From the replies, I am assuming that Quicken Online does not currently support more than one cash account. Like many of you, I hope that it someday will, but here is how I get past the problem of keeping track of what you owe your friends:
Google Docs. Make a category that called "receivables" or something like that, and then match that category to a google doc which will spell out the inflows and outflows by person. It's complicated and annoying, which is why we'll be glad when Quicken adds this feature. Still, if you're like me and you want to be able to keep track of these things as part of your overall financial system, this will allow you to utilize the benefits of Quicken online while minimizing the downside.

This is absurd. This product is not ready for market. They should tell people they don't have this most basic of features before enticing people to waste hours setting up on on-line Quicken account that would be of NO USE WHATSOEVER.

I also would like to track my cash spending - there are various reasons - like I am temporarily overseas and I want to track in a different currency. Or I just want to track certain expenses regardless of where i pull the money from.

Someone really needs to think this through. I have closed an account that I still owe money too. Since I have closed the account I am no longer able to use their online services, but I am still paying off this credit card. It seems like it should be a simple process to just add an account manually and see no reason that Quicken Online would deny us this option.
I agree. I have the exact same problem. The Credit Card Account is closed and the Bank won't allow me to re-open or even open another account. So now I'm forced to put this in the Cash Account and foregoe tracking cash (Hack!). Please add the ability to add non-bank accounts.
