It seems like new features have finally started becoming available (thanks!) Does anyone know if or when we will see split transactions? To me this is a far more frustrating omission than budgeting (though I would like to have and use both features.)
It looks like it should all net out, but it thinks that I have no money left in my wallet when I really have $30. I've been trying to figure out if there is something else that is off-setting it, but when the cash trend is positive it doesn't show up so it's hard to just see the cash transactions that it is accounting for. I categorized the deposit as transfer out in my checking account.
I don't see a "balance" for my My Wallet account. I see the total of all My Wallet expense transactions, and the total of "uncategorized" transactions (which is an amount I can't really explain, but adding new expense transactions in My Wallet reduces that "uncategorized" amount for me).
If you're looking for transactions categorized to Cash, you can go to the Transactions tab, elect to view all transactions, select a date range that encompasses all your transactions, and sort on category.
The uncategorized is supposed to be how much cash you have left on you, and it was working just fine for me until I started splitting things...I don't think it likes the transfers in. Oh well. I'll just have to ignore it I guess. Hopefully split transactions comes soon! We've definitely waited long enough for it!
I know how to view all transactions categorized to cash, it's the calculations they're using in the trends. If you open up the Cash trend (when it's negative) it shows you much it is calculating you as spending for that time period. You won't find that number anywhere else, that I know of. It is not the same as the cash in/out
It's now close to the end of March, please let us know where the Split Transaction enhancement stands! This is a very important feature and should have been included from the very beginning.
Adding another vote. A critical feature that your community has been asking for for many months, which fundamentally affects the value of the product (ever shopped at a Super Wal-Mart or a Costco? YOU CAN BUY MORE THAN ONE KIND OF THING THERE,) and which to the unenlightened seems ludicrously simple.
YET ANOTHER vote. I, too, can't use this product without split transactions. Just about every store I frequent has more than one category of product. Wal-Mart Supercenter, for example, usually is where I buy about 50% groceries and 50% an assortment of other household goods and clothing. It wouldn't do to put all of this into a single category.
I've been waiting a long time for you to add split transactions to Quicken Online. As time passes, Quicken Online is becoming less and less useful. I'm strongly considering switching to another free online service that has had this feature for a long time. I've been a Quicken user for many years and would like to stay with Quicken, but this delay is crazy... it's not like you've never done split transactions before!
In addition to splitting expenses, it's necessary to record a deposit of multiple checks, for example, into income categories.
I'm pretty sure I speak for the whole community when I say we'd like to hear soemthing from Quicken Online's product managers on this topic.
I started considering a switch to Quicken online with the assumption it at least supported splits - when I didn't see it I thought it was just a matter of poking around to find out how - I'm still shocked it's not included.
I also am dumbfounded that this product lacks this essential feature. I understand the workarounds and will try them, but it says Bad Things about Quicken that they even let this out the door without split transactions.
Has anyone found an online service that accomodates splits? Let's all go there!
I just spent the time setting up a quicken account and adding all of my various accounts only to find out that you can't do splits. Bummer I wasted my time. The program is USELESS without this. Ever been to walmart. You buy food, household stuff, clothing. This is ridicules. Add it now!
I saw in a different forum where a Quicken employee (maybe Quicken Jim?) stated in May that split transactions was close to being implemented. I believe he said "about 2 months away". If that timetable still holds true that means any day now QO should be updated with this feature and hopefully a couple others.
I need it too. I love the product in almost every way, and hate mint.com just as much, but I need to be able to do splits!
It was commented on a year ago by Intuit employees. Is this something they are holding for ransom somehow? However, when I went to quicken.com to decide which version of Quicken I needed, it really steered me to the Online version over their PC/Mac-based products. They appear to be pushing towards "cloud"-based products like QO, but aren't adding simple features. However, I can't add transactions on the run with my iPhone with any PC/Mac-based version of Quicken. I can with QO.
It almost appears that they aren't sure what they want to do with their products.
Yes, we really are working on a splits feature for Quicken Online. The release is still scheduled for September.
We usually can’t talk about features in the pipeline, but this one has been discussed publicly already and is an exception.
I always wish I could say more here about other things planned. What I can do is discuss current issues. We do read your postings on improvements you'd like to see us make. So thanks very much for contributing.
