Until Quicken can assure me that it has RELIABLE downloading of quotes, I am sick and tired of editing my price history every day weeding out bad historical prices.
I am back to downloading quotes via NetStock and importing them into Quicken.
This is what we pay Quicken for? I have to use an outside price quote source?
Ridiculous, isnt' it?

This message relates to Quicken H&B 2009. The portfolio downloads are way out of line, there is something wrong with the calculations!! Today, see attachment, the DJ increase +11.312 and look at AT&T, Verizon, and consolidated energy. Don't I wish they would climb like that. The quotes are transfering correctly, but the calculations are way out in left field. How could a program get by beta with that kind of error. MS Money isn't even going to issue and update this year so why hurry, get IT RIGHT!

Dale:
Here is my list of bad historical quotes and some things I have discovered.
The following securities give bad downloaded historical quotes for all dates from August 21 onwards. Interestingly, they seem to give the correct quotes for the current day (until tomorrow). DWSN, BNI, ENER, BHP, MTR, D, HURC, JLL, AMX, AAPL, KO, AMSC, GSH, VTIV, MGT, MO, BLU, KNOL, HXL, ESLR, UYG, GW, DOW, KMP and the indexes COMPX and INX. Some of the securities which are not corrupted are X, PCL, UN, HSC, PCU and there are others. Yesterday, the list of corrupted securities included many mutual funds, such as DODGX, GFAFX but I note that as of 6 pm EDT today, mutual funds have not been updated. Usually, those updates are ready by 6 pm.
I ran an experiment with BLU, which had corrupted historical quotes. I deleted the bad quotes of Aug-21 through Aug-27 and then ran a Historical Quote - just on BLU, but not on any other securities. The Aug-21 etc. quote came back ok. I then deleted them again and ran a Historical Quote download on ALL securities. This time, BLU got corrupted again.
Yesterday, I deleted bad historical quotes from many other securities and corrected them by doing single downloads. They all went bad again today.
Hope this data helps you arrive at a quick solution...

I threw in the towel and started importing stock and mutual fund prices via NetStock into Quicken.
Until I can get assurances from Quicken that this latest debacle is over, I have no use for deleting bad historical prices. It expends too much energy, not to mention the rise in blood pressure as I learn to hate Intuit more and more.

Eventually, the Q engineers are going to figure out the the server's index files keep corrupting themselves. Why else would the quotes sometimes be right and sometimes be wrong. There appear to b problems with the symbols being indexed to the right exchanges. Try DPS

It would be nice if one could easily delete quites, but it is either everthing (QPH file), or one at a time.

Jim, I would like to see back, the ability to sort the columns. It was quite a while ago, but that feature was there, then it was taken away. Would be great to get back as we can compare how well our mutual funds or stocks are performing in the portfolio compared to one another. When can we have the update feature fixed?

version 2009.
What do you mean "limited" problem. I have about 50 stocks and at least 40 have completely screwed up historical prices for the last few days since I upgraded to 1009 today. And each time I do an update price download they all change for all of the historical prices. I then went in and deleted and they all come back. WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED - or should I just call and get a refund on the product?

Is true. Yes you can delete multiple entries for a stock - but you have to do for each stock one at a time or the whole file. And if you do whole file then you lose your bond historical prices, which do not get automatically rebuilt. A waste of time anyway as the next time you do a download all of the bogus historical prices come back anyway!

The following symbols return no quotes. They do not update at all.
ABN-G BAC-W ONE-W BSC-X C-Z C-S C-V DAL FBF-M HBC- JPM-J MER-E PL-B RVT-B and (BRK B this is one symbol)
The following symbols have wrong historical quotes for the last four days making the gain/loss incorrect by large amounts. Every time I update, more go bad.
ALU CHK AEPGX BFD FSENX BPTRX MCGFX CSCO ETR ACRNX FCNTX FDEQX FEQTX FMAGX FDEGX FEQIX T C
I think the whole quote server process is corrupt. It seems to me that a change of this magnitude should be tested, tested, tested, tested and tested before going live with customers financial records and ruining them. Does Intuit know what a beta tester is?
I am absolutely sick and tired of the problems Intuit has had this past year. I spend more time doing functions by hand than using the program as it was intended. I can probably write it down on a legal pad and use a calculator in about the same amount of time.
This used to be a good product but now it is the worst piece of software I have ever seen. I have been using this program since 1994 but I am about to the end.
I think it is time for another new CEO. It has gotten worse since Brad took over. I wonder if Brad even knows what is going on.

I hope it isn't complete. It still doesn't work for me and I was told it would be the middle of Sept. before it wwould be corrected and finished. What is the truth?
That is just part of the list and enough to show that it is not specific stock or mutual fund but rather a bigger problem. Of course no one will respond.

I have restored a backup, run Validate, run Super Validate and each time I download transactions again, it scrambles the quotes, both historical and today. Each time it scrambles them differently, randomly. There is no pattern. Here are some of the tickers:

Yesterday, with QP 2008, everything was OK. Late last night, 8/27, installed QP 2009. Now, I have 300+ funds that have gone crazy. For most, but not all, price on 8/21 is OK, then 8/22 - 8/27 price is garbage, then 8/28 price looks ok.
Examples: FSESX, TASCX, FAIRX, FICDX, CGMFX, HSGFX,
I checked more then 50 funds, all with the same patter of incorrect prices.

I forgot to mention - I have emailed Tech Support and got back a standard response about fixing corrupted data files. No acknowledgement that this problem is known and widespread, and derives from an "upgrade" by Intuit.
I have emailed back, requested a call back and attempted chat. I assume Intuit is overwhelmed with this "glitch" but it would be nice if they'd send an acknowledgment of the problem and let us know they're working on it. A little human connection would make us all feel more inclined to be patient, rather than getting all worked up. It's just good business and common sense.

Thanks for the first attempt at fixing this.
Hey Please include
Quicken 2009 in your version choice above for a starter!
I only own about 40 stocks and have about all of them showing up incorrectly for the last four days. However, the quotes on the day of the update are correct! Thus giving you individual stocks to check would be a waste of time.
This is a major problem and needs to be addressed very quickly by your most senior staff. Set up quicken yourselves and create portfolios and update them daily for a few days and you might see what we are griping about. Good Luck

About 90% of my portfolio quotes have been radically incorrect for several days now. I kept hoping that the problem would be fixed quickly - but, after finding this thread it is obvious that it is not going to happen. Unless intuit can assure us that there will be a prompt correction, I guess the only path left is to drop Quicken and go to another program. I have been a Quicken user for almost as long as it has been on the market and I am reluctant to change; but, It is clear to me that the quality and reliability has steadily been decreasing and it doesn't appear that it will improve anytime soon.

Jim,
Thanks for demonstrating your commitment to addressing our concerns. Clearly, there are a couple of features that everyone wants to see, including a one-page view of all portfolios, availability of all the previously available data columns and reliable quote downloads.
As for additional features, one I would really like to see is the ability to add a column that shows what the price was at the time the specific ticker symbol was added to that particular portfolio. I'd like to do this for watchlists so I can track price moves since I started watching them. More importantly, I always keep a watchlist of securities I've sold. Being able to compare performance following a sale helps me learn from my mistakes (which most sales sadly turn out to be).
Other features:
1) Ability to turn off the chart/dialog box that currently sits atop the portfolio page.
2) Ability to sort my portfolios to my liking (I want my more active accounts at the top of the page)
3) Numeric data to accompany the Evaluator charts - and make those charts bigger
4) Allow more variables to be added or changed when calculating the intrinsic value on Evaluator (for example, sometimes the initial earnings need some manual adjustment).
5) A menu bar of some sort that includes quick links to all features from every page so we don't have to remember how to navigate to those features.
6) A return of the Foolish 8 screen on the One-click scorecard (I still lament the loss of the NAICS screen years ago).
I am taking you at your word that you want to listen to us. I realize additions/changes must be prioritized and will be willing to be patient as long as I feel you are making progress toward satisfying our requests.
As a footnote, a friend of mine was once involved in a project for Sears that determined that their most loyal customers were those who had experienced a problem and had it solved to their satisfaction. This is Quicken's opportunity to do just that. Please show us our faith isn't misguided.

Jim,
Instead of maintaining the old platform why not just leave it in place warts and all until you can get a reasonable facsimile working? The new system is useless. The old system was at least workable.
