I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.
If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here. This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--
Thanks--

Is true. Yes you can delete multiple entries for a stock - but you have to do for each stock one at a time or the whole file. And if you do whole file then you lose your bond historical prices, which do not get automatically rebuilt. A waste of time anyway as the next time you do a download all of the bogus historical prices come back anyway!

The following symbols return no quotes. They do not update at all.
ABN-G BAC-W ONE-W BSC-X C-Z C-S C-V DAL FBF-M HBC- JPM-J MER-E PL-B RVT-B and (BRK B this is one symbol)
The following symbols have wrong historical quotes for the last four days making the gain/loss incorrect by large amounts. Every time I update, more go bad.
ALU CHK AEPGX BFD FSENX BPTRX MCGFX CSCO ETR ACRNX FCNTX FDEQX FEQTX FMAGX FDEGX FEQIX T C
I think the whole quote server process is corrupt. It seems to me that a change of this magnitude should be tested, tested, tested, tested and tested before going live with customers financial records and ruining them. Does Intuit know what a beta tester is?
I am absolutely sick and tired of the problems Intuit has had this past year. I spend more time doing functions by hand than using the program as it was intended. I can probably write it down on a legal pad and use a calculator in about the same amount of time.
This used to be a good product but now it is the worst piece of software I have ever seen. I have been using this program since 1994 but I am about to the end.
I think it is time for another new CEO. It has gotten worse since Brad took over. I wonder if Brad even knows what is going on.

I hope it isn't complete. It still doesn't work for me and I was told it would be the middle of Sept. before it wwould be corrected and finished. What is the truth?
That is just part of the list and enough to show that it is not specific stock or mutual fund but rather a bigger problem. Of course no one will respond.

I have restored a backup, run Validate, run Super Validate and each time I download transactions again, it scrambles the quotes, both historical and today. Each time it scrambles them differently, randomly. There is no pattern. Here are some of the tickers:

Yesterday, with QP 2008, everything was OK. Late last night, 8/27, installed QP 2009. Now, I have 300+ funds that have gone crazy. For most, but not all, price on 8/21 is OK, then 8/22 - 8/27 price is garbage, then 8/28 price looks ok.
Examples: FSESX, TASCX, FAIRX, FICDX, CGMFX, HSGFX,
I checked more then 50 funds, all with the same patter of incorrect prices.

I forgot to mention - I have emailed Tech Support and got back a standard response about fixing corrupted data files. No acknowledgement that this problem is known and widespread, and derives from an "upgrade" by Intuit.
I have emailed back, requested a call back and attempted chat. I assume Intuit is overwhelmed with this "glitch" but it would be nice if they'd send an acknowledgment of the problem and let us know they're working on it. A little human connection would make us all feel more inclined to be patient, rather than getting all worked up. It's just good business and common sense.

Thanks for the first attempt at fixing this.
Hey Please include
Quicken 2009 in your version choice above for a starter!
I only own about 40 stocks and have about all of them showing up incorrectly for the last four days. However, the quotes on the day of the update are correct! Thus giving you individual stocks to check would be a waste of time.
This is a major problem and needs to be addressed very quickly by your most senior staff. Set up quicken yourselves and create portfolios and update them daily for a few days and you might see what we are griping about. Good Luck

About 90% of my portfolio quotes have been radically incorrect for several days now. I kept hoping that the problem would be fixed quickly - but, after finding this thread it is obvious that it is not going to happen. Unless intuit can assure us that there will be a prompt correction, I guess the only path left is to drop Quicken and go to another program. I have been a Quicken user for almost as long as it has been on the market and I am reluctant to change; but, It is clear to me that the quality and reliability has steadily been decreasing and it doesn't appear that it will improve anytime soon.

Jim,
Thanks for demonstrating your commitment to addressing our concerns. Clearly, there are a couple of features that everyone wants to see, including a one-page view of all portfolios, availability of all the previously available data columns and reliable quote downloads.
As for additional features, one I would really like to see is the ability to add a column that shows what the price was at the time the specific ticker symbol was added to that particular portfolio. I'd like to do this for watchlists so I can track price moves since I started watching them. More importantly, I always keep a watchlist of securities I've sold. Being able to compare performance following a sale helps me learn from my mistakes (which most sales sadly turn out to be).
Other features:
1) Ability to turn off the chart/dialog box that currently sits atop the portfolio page.
2) Ability to sort my portfolios to my liking (I want my more active accounts at the top of the page)
3) Numeric data to accompany the Evaluator charts - and make those charts bigger
4) Allow more variables to be added or changed when calculating the intrinsic value on Evaluator (for example, sometimes the initial earnings need some manual adjustment).
5) A menu bar of some sort that includes quick links to all features from every page so we don't have to remember how to navigate to those features.
6) A return of the Foolish 8 screen on the One-click scorecard (I still lament the loss of the NAICS screen years ago).
I am taking you at your word that you want to listen to us. I realize additions/changes must be prioritized and will be willing to be patient as long as I feel you are making progress toward satisfying our requests.
As a footnote, a friend of mine was once involved in a project for Sears that determined that their most loyal customers were those who had experienced a problem and had it solved to their satisfaction. This is Quicken's opportunity to do just that. Please show us our faith isn't misguided.

Jim,
Instead of maintaining the old platform why not just leave it in place warts and all until you can get a reasonable facsimile working? The new system is useless. The old system was at least workable.

Downloading quotes is working well. No missing data. However my porfolio upload is not working.
Error message is " database in read only mode, try later". As of 8/28 7:00 pm Arizona, error continues. No porfolio online.

I guess that explains why the downloaded prices for GFAFX have been inconsistent and do not match the prices from Yahoo. Any idea when this will be fixed?
The downloaded price (as of 8/28) for GFAFX 8/27 is 23.59. When I downloaded my transactions on 8/27, GFAFX was near $30.
Yahoo finance shows GFAFX closed at 30.52 on 8/27.

Here is a workaround until Quicken gets its quotes server working correctly.
One step update your accounts, but uncheck "Download quotes, asset classes, headlines, etc".
Then download NetStock...a freeware program. Set up your stock/mutual fund symbols (one time only). Click on FILE > Quicken export. Save your file to the C: root folder. The file name is prices.txt.
In Quicken, open the Portfolio view. Click on FILE>IMPORT> IMPORT PRICES. Enter the name of the file as C:prices.txt. Quicken will import all your prices for the day.
After the first time, it takes about a minute to do and is very easy.
I will continue to do this until I am satisfied that the quotes server for historic prices has been fixed COMPLETELY!

This relates to Quicken 2009 and has been reported by others -- historical prices for 8/22 and 8/25-27 are completely scrambled. For example, prices history of Astrazeneca PLC appears in Quicken as follows:
Only the closing prices for 8/21 and 8/28 are correct.
This problem affects not just a few securities, but almost 100% of several hundred stocks. As a result, portfolio totals show wild and irrational swings.
Deleting the incorrect prices does no good as the incorrect numbers are filled in again when the next update is performed. It appears that Quicken's (Iverson's?) historical price data for the indicated dates has become corrupted.

The old system wasn't workable, and not maintainable, it worked, but for how long? Letting it keep running was an option, but at some point a switch needed to be made, if not this year, next Jan, or spring, how many problems between now and then?
We are in a much better position today than we were 3 months ago, I know it doesn't feel like it, but we have a large team working on these issues and are ironing them out.
As a quicken customer myself I would much rather have a newer system with a team in place constantly improving it, that what we had before.

Shame on Quicken. Now we know it will be months before we can expect them to get their act together. And who can tell what we will get.
It is just so bizarre how they could disable a working site (despite what they are saying). It was working at the time and serving their customers well. THEY DID THIS WITH NO WARNING AND NO REQUEST FOR CUSTOMER INPUT. It is so arrogant of them I can't guess what they were thinking.
They did this and put out a crippled replacement that is useless. They purposely disabled the working site and now they ask us to be patient.
They were clueless as to what they were doing and really did think they were putting out a good product. They obviously had no idea as to what was working and what wasn't working for their customers.
And now they are saying that they know what's best for us? Just be patient while waiting for them to figure that out.
TO QUICKEN I ASK "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT US TO DO WHILE PATIENTLY WAITING?"
Lets face it--we have aligned ourselves for years with a company that has no conscious feeling of responsibility towards their customers. They have done nothing to warrant any further support.
At this time what they are doing is frantically trying to clean up the glitches they created while at the same time they are hanging tough saying they still know what's best for us.
After this display of corporate ineptness and total disregard for their customers how could any of us ever consider using any of their services or software.
If there is any disagreement with this assessment I would appreciate your feedback, Quicken personnel included.
AND TO QUICKEN I AGAIN ASK WHAT IT IS YOU EXPECT US TO DO WHILE PATIENTLY WAITING FOR WHAT YOU TOOK AWAY?
If we had that kind of time to wait we wouldn't need your services would we.

This is a reply to post #134 where Jim says "We are in a much better position today than we were 3 months ago, I know it doesn't feel like it, but we have a large team working on these issues and are ironing them out. Jim, I know you are sincere in saying this and that you are trying to be helpful. First I want to thank you for trying to help, but you and the Quicken management have no idea how frustrating it is to deal with a company that has absolutely no understanding of the damage you are doing to your customers. It is obvious that you do not manage your own investing. There are probably thousands of quicken users who do. Not a single one of us has the slightest interest in replacing a quotation service that is flawed but useful as Quicken was a few weeks ago with a new service that is TOTALLY USELESS for investors with a promise that it will be wonderful in a month or two. Even if we believed you (which we do not, based on years of arrogant disregard for customers), there is still absolutely no way that a serious investor can stomach this. These remarks are not aimed at you but rather a plea that you will try to understand what our real problem is and try to convey that to your management.
Never, never, never do this again. We have said this for years. Investors who manage their own protfolios rely on quality stock price information. They do not give a darn about what you think we need or want. Listen to your customers. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER change a product or service without beta testing it. Does your management understand the concept of beta testing?

With this method, I don't see why I will ever need to upgrade again. Threatening me with cutting off stock quote updates is the only reason I have ever updated to newer Quickens!

This is well said and I agree with you totally. They should have made sure the product was working before they disabled the old one. This close to the end of thee year and with the market flucuating like it is, we need to be able to keep up with our investments quickly and closely which I did well with the old system.
I agree with you SHAME ON YOU, QUICIEN.
