Hello All,

I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete.  This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.

If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here.  This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--

Thanks--

Quicken Kathryn

Most of my downloaded prices are incorrect for the days 25 - 28 August. What is wrong and how can I fix it? Also, I used to link to Yahoo Quotes on the internet but now I go to the lame Quicken one - which is unacceptable.

"Is true. Yes you can delete multiple entries for a stock - but you have to do for each stock one at a time or the whole file."

Deleting multiple prices at once for a single security is considerably different and faster than being limited to deleting one price at a time ... as the comment I replied to said.

And if you do whole file then you lose your bond historical prices, which do not get automatically rebuilt.

And there is also a way to recover prices for selected securities whose historical prices are not available thru Quicken download, if you decide to delete the QPH file.

A waste of time anyway as the next time you do a download all of the bogus historical prices come back anyway!

Then why bring up the subject of the ease of deleting quotes in this context?

Kathryn, why don't you give us a message that it realy isn't complete. There are gross errors in it and please give us a work-around and an idea of when we may be able to download correctly. It is grosly negligent of Quicken to put up what is supposed to be an upgrad without first making sure it will work. In the financial world accuracy in you daiily quotes are most important. Doesn't Quicken know this?

    Hi All,

I want to give you a status update on where we are at with the historical quotes issues.

The engineering team has determined the problem is not in the core application. We are now checking the databases and working with our data feeds providers to find the root cause. The team is aggressivly working on this and considers it to be a high priority issue to get resolved.

As I learn more I will update you. Please remember that sometimes you will get incorrect values and other times you will get correct values. This is one of the reasons it has been really hard in determining the root cause. I apologize for the difficulties it has given to many of you.

Just want to put in my daily harangue on this. I just do not even pay much attention to the shown prices anymore. Everytime I open a new comment, I see the quote, "I'm happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete."
It is difficult to believe anyone who has anything to do with Quicken could feel that way today.

I do not have access to the suggestions Quicken gets, but I would bet no one has ever said they would trade one-page view of their portfolios for any bell or whistle available on any other portfolio tracker. This is the one feature that made Quicken unique. There are any number of one-at-a-time portfolio trackers out there and because of other Quicken problems in the past, I would have moved to one of them long ago had it not been for the one-page multiple portfolios available in Quicken. Nothing to keep me here now.

As I have said before, and will continue to say, my experience with Quicken, since Quicken 2000, is that not one improvement has actually improved the product for me.

It is hard to believe that Quicken does not understand that this fiasco is worse than any product they have had in the last 10 years (or more according to those who have been with Quicken that long.) There comes a time when you have to admit defeat. The sooner Quicken gets to the point, the better.

I find it very interesting that the top of the quicken.com web page uses the word BETA.

Don't most BETA sites ask for optional usage of the part of the user?

This sort of indicates that there should be a fully funtional site avaialable.

    Guess not.

It seems to me that all the responses

Apparently your new quote server does not recognize preferred stocks. I have a number of preferred stocks whose symbols have a hyphen. It recognizes those without hyphens but not those with hyphens. Here are a few examples of what it does not recognize. ABN-G BAC-W C-Z PL-B

Also if you try to use Quicken's symbol lookup, your choices are Stocks, Mutual Funds, ETF's and Indices.
It does not include any preferred stocks under the general category of stocks.

If you are in your portfolio and choose download quotes you get the wrong historical prices on may stocks. Try symbol KOG for example. If you just choose Download history the history seems to be OK. HELP !!!! Whats up with this? Seems it was broken at this same time last year as well.

I am glad that some is working on this, but......

Boy does this underestomate the issue. I have 244 Symbols, and NEVER since this started have I gotten a clean or anywher near clean download! The problem may not be in download hisorical, but in the current download which gets the correct price, but also send the 4 last days for some other issue

I do NOT experience this as an occasional proble, but an all the time problem.

    Let's get serious.

This new change reminds me of what Yahoo did with there television listings last year. They added bells and whistles but killed the funtionality by making it necessary to click several times to get to the actual listings. I left Yahoo and never went back though i just checked the site today and they have returned to the one click see all page.I don't know if I will go back since I have gotten used to a new site. That's what Quicken must do with the online portfolio view. One click, see all investments!

I'm among the many who have seen their price updates show completely false data. Mine is so bad that it ranges in up-or-down over $100,000 each time I update.

This is so common that I knew I was the victim (again) of a Quicken program change.

Why have a financial program that you cannot trust?

I'm especially angry that there are many customers involved, yet the silence from Quicken is deafening.

    To: Dale_Knievel

While I appreciate your PC attempt at PR with today's reiteration of Quicken_Katryn's message, I would like to know whether Quicken understands that there are two, not one, current issues.

Yes there is a problem with with te mis-downloading of historical quotes. This is an impediment to tracking whether one's portfolio is up or down on a daily basis. We are informed that while the historic prices may be wrong, at least the current prices are correctly reported.

But, neither you nor Quicken understand, or refuse to admit, that the price of certain securities or erroneously reported on a current basis. There are three classes of this particular problem.

As has long been the case, certain securities' prices are never downloaded even though the user can obtain the price by visiting Quicken.com and manually entering the same symbol on the website. Why this problem has never been corrected is a mystery to me. It is extremely annoying.

However, since Wednesday, two other classes of errors are now frequently encountered, whereas last week and before they more rarely encountered.

Certain securities' prices are just wrongly reported during the day. However, it appears that after the market closes, the right price is finally reported.

Certain other securities' prices are just as wrongly reported, not just during the day but at all times. If you attempt to visit Quicken.com to obtain a current quote, the user discovers that the price is erroneously because the security's symbol is confused with a completely different security which has a similar symbol For an actual example, enter the symbol "DPS". Both Dr. Pepper (DPS on NYSE) and the Dow Pacific Stock Index (DPS on CBOT) are dispalyed, but select Dr. Pepper and only the data for DPS:CBOT is dispayed.

Therfore, there are three classes of problems. Security prices that will not download, but are obtainable at the website. Security prices that are wrongly and arbitarly reported. Securities that are cross linked to other securities with similar symbols.

Both you and I, as well as every community member can ponder the cause and seek to lay blame on different responsible parties.

What I want to know, though, is if Quicken is working to resolve the problems I discussed above. Are you aware of these problems? Is someone working on them? Or is your motto We report the quotes that we can, and ignore the rest. I am not asking if you are going to start quting bond prices, etc. I only want to know if you are trying to report accurate market prices on securities traded on American exchanges with widely recognized symbols. This is what you already claim to do.

Please do not answer with a canned response that refers me to all the other faqs, discussions, and blogs in the known universe or parts thereof.

I think it would be helpful if the moderator could split this thread into two. While there may be a common factor to these problems in that there is a new portfolio/quotes server, there are two distinct sets of user issues -

    (1) problems with the portfolio portion of Quicken.com and

    (2) problems with corruption of the historical quotes.

People are making comments to either problem and sometimes it is not clear which issue they are addressing. Comments are all interspersed and it is confusing. Personally, I don't use Quicken.com so have no opinion as to the portfolio issues there but have every sympathy for the opinions of users I have seen. However, I'm as upset as anyone about the effect of the historical quotes download problem and hope that Dale and his engineers can fix that quickly.

    Can someone split this thread?

There are my sentiments, exactly. I knew the day I noticed the "UPGRADE" there was trouble ahead but I never dreamed it would be this extensive and far reaching. This has doubled my work and I don't like it at all. I keep posting and looking hoping to see a sensible comment from Quicken.

Version 2009 (not available in dropdown above)

All symbols. Quicken doesn't discriminate. I have a portfolio of 40 to 50 securities and not one of them downloads correctly in Quicken 2009. Quicken 2008 still works fine for me. I'm running it on my laptop and 2009 on the destop as a test setup in the hopes you can fix this in a reasonable time.

To clarify -- it's the corruption of the last 5 days or so of history when I download current quotes that is the main problem. Most current quotes are correct.

PCY is quoting an index instead of the security.

I just want to add my name to the list of people who are being affected by bugs in this latest upgrade. Since I upgraded 5 days ago, the gain/loss calculation for the stocks in my postfolio are garbage. This is a feature that worked fine for years until the update and a feature I use daily.

Will there be a fix for this soon? Thanks.

I also just noticed that the price history for my stocks for the last 5 days since I upgraded is corrupt, as others have experienced.

I have consistently received this message when trying to update security prices since Monday, 8-25-2008: 25 out of 40 securities serviced. Missing symbols: C-F, CEG PRA, CFC, FTB-A, HCP PRE, HRP PRC, JPM-W, KEY-F, KRB PRD, PRE-D, REG-D, RF-Z, STI-Z, SUS-A, WB-D
I have changed symbols and re-entered to no avail. They all updated before the upgrade.

I would be happy to send you a GIF file for the particular portfolio that contains most of those stocks. Note that most are preferred.
    Hope this helps,
    Gammaman
