I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.
If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here. This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--
Thanks--
Quicken Kathryn

This is hardly an adequate description of the Quotes problems and other problems specific to QK 2009.
There is no appology of any kind for releasing software that is not finished (QK 2009) and the new Quotes processing which is a seperate process without adequate testing.
So it is not possible to take your comments seriously. Quicken have alot to do with the user base to rebuild credibility, let along to fix the Quotes tool, and the Desktop software problems.
The blurb on the support site is another lie from Quicken where it claims that deleteing the prices and redownloading the quotes will solve the problem. Absolutely untrue. Over the last several days, I have never gotten a correct Quote download. This all starting with an empty .QPH file.

Ben,
I am quite perturbed that your priority list does not include just getting the new product to work. The second portfolio in my list of portfolios does not display either a chart or holdings. Once I try to display this portfolio none of the others display either.
I also very amused this evening when my overall portfolio total decreased by about $100,000, all the days's changes were negative yet my daily increase displays at a positive $167,000.
That has nothing to do with any data feeds but merely cra..y programming.

An easier way to do this is to change the symbol in Quicken, otherwise you have to edit the PRICES.TXT file each time you save a new copy. The symbols I've provided below are the ones that Yahoo uses and these are the ones that you'll want to add to NetStock to look up for you.
When you change the symbol in Quicken you'll have the option to copy all the previous quotes - which you'll want to do.
When Intuit finally fixes the quote problems you can change the symbols in Quicken back.
Symbols:
Dow Jones 20 Transportation ^DJT
Dow Jones Industrials ^DJI
NASDAQ Composite ^IXIC
Russell 2000 ^RUT
S&P 500 Index ^GSPC

The prices for September 2, 2008 are correct. Unfortunately, They are the same prices for September 1 resulting in no price change for September 2nd. Additionally, the prices for the prior week are totally incorrect. When will the price history for stocks be corrected?

Whenever I download Quotes, the quotes from 8/25 to current date get overwritten with bad quotes. I manually correct and next day I update quotes it imports bad date again. Is anyone else having this problem.

I think that when you update the quotes it downloads the current date and 4 days earlier, so if you correct something and do a download your corrections are over written.
Add a new ticker to your porfolio and do a download (of the one item only) and then look at the price history, you sell 5 days populated.
So until we have assurance that Quicken has really fixed this, you are sort of wasting your time to do correct prices if you then do an updated/download from my vantage point

Since installing QFW 2009,I am having problems with the historical prices being screwed up. This results in totally erroneous gains and losses. If this cannot be straightened out in short order, I would like my money back. I advise anyone who has not yet upgraded not to do so.

How do I delete a position? I entered a transaction to sell all my shares. However, the position still shows up as having zero shares. I don't want to see the position once it's gone! I also tried to delete the buy and sell transactions but that didn't work either.

For the past ten days, the daily change of my individual stocks from my portfolio have been quite erratic. It ranges from 112 to 1400% from the previous day. I have manually changed the previous day's portfolio to the correct close as of yesterday, hoping that the system will correct itself, but the system goes back and restores the previous day to the same erroneous quotes. I have then let the wrong quotes continue hoping that in a day or two it will correct itself, but that does not work either. Because I rely on Quicken exclusively to make my tax and investment decisions, this experience is quite disturbing, particularly when I have used Quicken since its inception and have never experienced this type of problem before. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks.

Hi JPG,
Thanks for the data. This is what I am seeing as well with my test. Our engineer spent some time reading your report and is using it to get further in the investigation.
I don't know if anyone told you how to rebuild the quotes from transactions, but you can.
Go to the register where you want to rebuild the prices from. Put focus into the data filed. Press and hold the ctrl key down. Then press the letter z. It will ask you if you want to recalculate all transactions. Choosing yes will cause Quicken to do two things.
1. Check all of your lots for links and repair any that are off.
2. Add the missing prices to the price history list from the transactions.
Note: I suggest trying on a backup first so that you can see what lots might have an issue and fix them first if you have any specifically identified lots.

Quote-scrambling has been going on for over 10 days now. No relief in sight. All responses from Intuit have been nonresponsive. They just don't get it.
Folks - what are the alternatives to Quicken? I have used it since inception, and dutifully upgraded (almost) annually. I am rethinking my slavish loyalty.

Ben,
I've been a Quicken user since 1992, and this quotes problem is a definite low point. I've finally gotten annoyed enough to spend a few minutes to help you out.
I've attached a copy of the download of my quotes as of Sep 02. The last 5 days quotes are incorrect for nearly all of the mutual funds and stocks that I download. The detailed quote for the current day is correct. This same trend occurred with the Aug 29 download.
Here is a snippet of the quote data for Apple. You can see that the quote as of Sep 2, 4:16 pm is 166.19, but the aux daily quote for Sep 2, is 7.85.
Quotes
Many users have reported problems with specific historic quotes.
Hey, Ben, happy to see that this is your top priority, but your statement of the problem with historical prices is not correct. If you read the messages posted here, you will note that the problem relates to corrupt price histories for virtually all stocks. This is not isolated to a few, specific historic quotes, as your comment suggests. In fact, in looking at several hundred stocks in my portfolio, I didn't find one with a correct price history for all dates after 8/21.
What is worse, when a download of current quotes is performed, correct historic data is being replaced with corrupt, incorrect information. As a result many users who have taken the time to remove incorrect historical prices from their qph files are seeing their hard work undone when they subsequently perform a "download quotes" operation.
It will be very difficult for you and your team to come up with a reliable solution, if you don't understand, or if you understate, the extent of the problem.
Improvement???? You must be kidding. You must be kidding!
A useful tool has been totally destroyed. I am now busily searching other service that will give me a simple price and value for my investments.
I have manually entered my several portfolios into MSN Money at http://moneycentral.msn.com/stock_portfolio. It is free and gives everything on one page like Quicken used to do. Will Quicken ever wake up?
Saturday I went through my entire portfolio and manually corrected the closing prices for 8/21/08 through 8/29/08. Today I downloaded quotes at the end of the day and all of my manual work has been overridden with incorrect data. C, for example, has its 8/29 quote changed to $39.94 even though I had corrected it Saturday. Something major is amiss.
Back up your Quicken files before updating or better yet do not download stock prices until this is fixed. I am importing stock prices from a csv (text) file.
We sincerely regret the problems that our customers have faced, and we are doing everything we can to address those issues as quickly as possible.
Thanks for breaking the silence. I appreciate the promise to fix the system. But how can you say that you are doing everything possible to address the issues? The one thing you are not doing is giving us back the old system which worked while you are developing the new one. Never, never, never change a working system without beta testing the new one. This has been a continuing problem for years, and Quicken never takes the customer seriously. You have no idea how angry you make your customers by treating us this way. Please pass this up to management.
dw I tried this but the stock symbol imports as ""ABC so it does not go the price file. How did you avoid that? Import that file into Quicken by going to your porfolio page and selecting file/import/import prices If you view the csv file in Notepad, one line looks like
CDE,1.87,---,8/22/2008,---,1.97,1.86,81712,*
Are you sure you are on the portfolio page when you import prices. It worked for me.

I don't know if this has been mentioned b4 in this thread, but I found that by //NOT// using the "Quotes" button, but instead using the "Download Historical Prices" button near the portfolio top of the portfolio window and setting it to "Get prices for the last Month" seems to work OK. At least it seems OK on my copy of QP2006. For what it's worth.
