Hello All,

I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete.  This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.

If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here.  This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--

Thanks--

Quicken Kathryn

How do I delete a position? I entered a transaction to sell all my shares. However, the position still shows up as having zero shares. I don't want to see the position once it's gone! I also tried to delete the buy and sell transactions but that didn't work either.

For the past ten days, the daily change of my individual stocks from my portfolio have been quite erratic. It ranges from 112 to 1400% from the previous day. I have manually changed the previous day's portfolio to the correct close as of yesterday, hoping that the system will correct itself, but the system goes back and restores the previous day to the same erroneous quotes. I have then let the wrong quotes continue hoping that in a day or two it will correct itself, but that does not work either. Because I rely on Quicken exclusively to make my tax and investment decisions, this experience is quite disturbing, particularly when I have used Quicken since its inception and have never experienced this type of problem before. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks.

This is no signoficant change from the behavior from before.

The downloading of prices for today at9/1 is another problem they have.

Hi JPG,

Thanks for the data. This is what I am seeing as well with my test. Our engineer spent some time reading your report and is using it to get further in the investigation.

I don't know if anyone told you how to rebuild the quotes from transactions, but you can.

Go to the register where you want to rebuild the prices from. Put focus into the data filed. Press and hold the ctrl key down. Then press the letter z. It will ask you if you want to recalculate all transactions. Choosing yes will cause Quicken to do two things.

1. Check all of your lots for links and repair any that are off.
2. Add the missing prices to the price history list from the transactions.

Note: I suggest trying on a backup first so that you can see what lots might have an issue and fix them first if you have any specifically identified lots.

No point doing anything until Quotes have been fixed and are stable. Just have to do it over again the next day

I tried this but the stock symbol imports as

""ABC so it does not go the price file.

    How did you avoid that?

Import that file into Quicken by going to your porfolio page and selecting file/import/import prices

If you view the csv file in Notepad, one line looks like
    CDE,1.87,---,8/22/2008,---,1.97,1.86,81712,*

Quote-scrambling has been going on for over 10 days now. No relief in sight. All responses from Intuit have been nonresponsive. They just don't get it.

Folks - what are the alternatives to Quicken? I have used it since inception, and dutifully upgraded (almost) annually. I am rethinking my slavish loyalty.

    Ben,

I've been a Quicken user since 1992, and this quotes problem is a definite low point. I've finally gotten annoyed enough to spend a few minutes to help you out.

I've attached a copy of the download of my quotes as of Sep 02. The last 5 days quotes are incorrect for nearly all of the mutual funds and stocks that I download. The detailed quote for the current day is correct. This same trend occurred with the Aug 29 download.

Here is a snippet of the quote data for Apple. You can see that the quote as of Sep 2, 4:16 pm is 166.19, but the aux daily quote for Sep 2, is 7.85.

Quotes Many users have reported problems with specific historic quotes.
Hey, Ben, happy to see that this is your top priority, but your statement of the problem with historical prices is not correct. If you read the messages posted here, you will note that the problem relates to corrupt price histories for virtually all stocks. This is not isolated to a few, specific historic quotes, as your comment suggests. In fact, in looking at several hundred stocks in my portfolio, I didn't find one with a correct price history for all dates after 8/21.

What is worse, when a download of current quotes is performed, correct historic data is being replaced with corrupt, incorrect information. As a result many users who have taken the time to remove incorrect historical prices from their qph files are seeing their hard work undone when they subsequently perform a "download quotes" operation.

It will be very difficult for you and your team to come up with a reliable solution, if you don't understand, or if you understate, the extent of the problem.

Improvement???? You must be kidding. You must be kidding! A useful tool has been totally destroyed. I am now busily searching other service that will give me a simple price and value for my investments.
I have manually entered my several portfolios into MSN Money at http://moneycentral.msn.com/stock_portfolio. It is free and gives everything on one page like Quicken used to do. Will Quicken ever wake up?

Saturday I went through my entire portfolio and manually corrected the closing prices for 8/21/08 through 8/29/08. Today I downloaded quotes at the end of the day and all of my manual work has been overridden with incorrect data. C, for example, has its 8/29 quote changed to $39.94 even though I had corrected it Saturday. Something major is amiss.
Back up your Quicken files before updating or better yet do not download stock prices until this is fixed. I am importing stock prices from a csv (text) file.

We sincerely regret the problems that our customers have faced, and we are doing everything we can to address those issues as quickly as possible.
Thanks for breaking the silence. I appreciate the promise to fix the system. But how can you say that you are doing everything possible to address the issues? The one thing you are not doing is giving us back the old system which worked while you are developing the new one. Never, never, never change a working system without beta testing the new one. This has been a continuing problem for years, and Quicken never takes the customer seriously. You have no idea how angry you make your customers by treating us this way. Please pass this up to management.

I don't know if this has been mentioned b4 in this thread, but I found that by //NOT// using the "Quotes" button, but instead using the "Download Historical Prices" button near the portfolio top of the portfolio window and setting it to "Get prices for the last Month" seems to work OK. At least it seems OK on my copy of QP2006. For what it's worth.

I fell for the hype that it was fixed and used the Quicken Update last night. The errors are less, but still there - SAI came in at about 100 times its value, and CBS A still can't be found. These are just two examples. Realizing I had been had, I imported my quotes from NetStock and moved on about my business.

Could you post an update daily regarding the status of the fix.... just to let us know and informed!!!!!

Lot's of people frustrated on this.

Over-communication on this might help. I was going to update to 2009, but cant until this is fixed.

You're happy to report the transfer to the quote server is complete?

Was your goal to screw up tens of thousands of customers portfolio management?

How hard can this be to correct?

Intuit needs to devote more qualified people to resolve this problem. They must realize this is impacting thousands of customers. How it have even happened? Where is the internal testing before moving to new quote servers? This is what one would expect from the a third tier company.

Here is an idea - Go back to the old server until you get your act together! Also, how about an email to at least acknowledging the problem! There are probably many users who incorrectly think their file is corrupt.

I continue to have issues with historical prices being wrong and quotes still will not download for 15 different securities.

No quote for Series B of Berkshire Hathaway(BRK B). It updates on Quicken.com but is not recognized on Quicken program update.

Delta Airlines (DAL) returns the price of Dow Jones Australia Liquid Index on Quicken.com. It is not recognized on Quicken program update.

The remaining 13 that are not recognized on Quicken program update are all preferred stocks with hyphens in the symbol. They are recognized on Quicken.com but not by the Quicken program update server.

    They are as follows:
    ABN-G ABN Amro Capital
    BAC-W Bank of America Capital
    ONE-W Bank One Capital
    BSC-X Bear Stearns Capital
    C-Z Citigroup Capital
    C-S Citigroup Capital
    C-V Citigroup Capital
    FBF-M Fleet Capital
    HBC- Harris Preferred
    JPM-J JP Morgan Chase Capital
    MER-E Merrill Lynch Capital
    PL-B PLC Capital
    RVT-B Royce Value Trust Preferred

Please make the necessary adjustments to the server database.

I have Quicken 2009 Premier and I still have the same error message when I try and update my portfolio on Quicken.com. When will this problem be fixed for 2009?

Also, the quotes download is still a mess. When will we get and update to the quotes peoblem?

It is as if Quicken/Intuit is either ignoring the "corrupt prices after download" issue or somehow does not understand the magnitude of the issue. It is a DISASTER that appears to have been happening for about the past two weeks. I have reported the issue several times to Quicken Support via email. Each time I get a "form response", most of which is dedicated to "Quicken.com" status. The last response I received from Quicken Support this AM said the quotes download issue had been resolved. I then downloaded quotes and again had several recent day's prices corrupted for a significant number of securities. QUICKEN, PLEASE, PLEASE COMMUNICATE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE MAGNITUDE OF THIS ISSUE AND ESTABLISH A THREAD OR POST WITH CONTINUALLY UPDATED STATUS.

I suggest that we all go on Amazon.com, Newegg, Circuit City and other online sites and give reviews on Quicken.

Here is what I have posted:
"There are serious bugs in the way Quicken now uses to update your portfolio. When you try to update the quotes for the stocks and mutual funds you get totally incorrect values for your all the items in your portfolio. This problem started around August 21, 2008 when Intuit made changes in the way quotes are updated and uploaded to Quicken. There are now over 290 complaints on the Quicken Community Forum regarding this problem and the Quicken staff are not being very responsive to solving this problem. Check out this link:
