I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.
If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here. This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--
Thanks--
Quicken Kathryn

Was this update supposed to fix the incorrect asset classes applied to index funds? If so, then it is still broken. I am getting large "Other" asset class assignments.
Also, to extend gmalis1's post, you may wish to edit the price after an incorrect quote download. You do that in the profile view. You may need to add the "Quote/Price" column, but once you do, you can change the price right on that grid.
In Q2008, the procedure is in the help system under "Update security prices (get quotes)"

The current price or NAV for Fidelity Money Market Fund, symbol SPRXX, is showing as $2.45 on http://investing.quicken.com/portfolio/performance.asp. 2.45% is the 7 day yield for the fund so that is probably where the $2.45 is coming from.
The correct share price of $1.00 does appear to download via one step update, however. At least I got a $1.00 share price downloaded at 10:22 MDT 08/22/08.

You have got to be kidding. You have taken a useful easy to use product and created an impossible to use useless system investment tracking product. What happened???

I have to agree. I need to see all my holdings individually, on one page, just like the old site. New analytical features are great, but don't throw out the basics.
I'm probably going to change sites to something more "primitive".

I also agree with bbumbarger. Sadly, all users that have paid for working financial software have apparently been reduced to beta testers for this half-baked piece of crapware. Instead of foisting this on their paying customers, it should have been set up as a free trial download and just see how many users would quickly abandon it. While somewhat functional, it is inconvenient and features that were available have been dropped. Similar tinkering with online functionality by Microsoft on their online portfolio 2 years ago led to my switch from MS Money to Quicken. I have no objection to changes, but make the changes worthwhile and not just change for the sake of change.

Chris & Katheryn:
I'm sure you and your team put a lot of hard work into upgrading the portfolio for Quicken on-line. But sometimes the "best laid plans of mice and men" sometimes go awry.
In my opinion the new version is utterly useless for my needs and I will no longer use the on-line portfolio as long as it remains in its current format.
Entirely too many features from the old version have DISAPPEARED and been replaced with features of QUESTIONABLE value. And at the very least the site navigation is now so cumbersome that the layout efficiencies I enjoyed in the old on-line version require entirely too much time clicking from page-to-page in order to see what formerly required only one mouse click. In addition, much of the information I have used in the past is no longer available, period.
If the intent of the new version is to keep users on the site longer, the plan may have backfired, because the new system, in the current format, may drive away users.
I have begun to use Google Finance now, and although not nearly as robust as the old version of Quicken on-line, it is a much more user friendly product than your new version. It will have to do for now.
I hope your management team will rethink this upgrade, and if the decision is made to proceed with the upgrade, additional resources will be incorporated into the new version which allows the actual users of the product the option to continue to using the old features and layouts in addition to the features you obviously perceive to be an upgrade.
I will continue to check my Quicken portfolio once month or so, not for current data, but to see if any improvements have been made which makes it a suitable upgrade to the old Quicken on-line. As far as I am concerned the new upgrade fails miserably and to deem it a downgrade might be too diplomatic.

I am glad I waited to update to Quicken Premier 2008. The online update doesn't allow me to view multiple portfolios on 1 page as in the previous version. This is not acceptable to me and I will be using another product and uninstalling Quicken.
Maybe in the future you should ask your user/customers before putting out an "upgrade" thought up by programmers and not investors.

The new version WILL not allow me to download information from my quicken. The values of all my accounts reflect the balances as of the date your updgrade began. My quicken.com DOES show the new format but is NOT updated with financial information that has occured during the "updgrade" What can be done to correct this?

You NEED to bring back the snapshot of todays performance across ALL account, and show every position. This is what people want every day, period. The additions are nice but if you dont give the overall snapshot then I think you will lose alot of users.
New Format for Portfolio is bad Aug 25, 2008 10:37 am

The new format for My portfolio is bad and the display format is very bad. This new format was just revised/released on August 24th. Quicken did this without formally notifying us or allowing input (they did post a banner that there was a planned upgrade). All of my customized columns are gone and the stock order is all shuffled. Please change back to the old format or allow some way to use either one. The old link to the portfolio does not work anymore. Seems like a bunch of new programmers went nuts on their own without direction. I guess they thought they were making it better. Check out the new format yourself here and post your own comments: http://investing.quicken.com/portfolio/performance.asp

I totally agree, not only that, there is an error in the price of one of my money market accounts which overstates my holdings by more than $30K. Very disconcerting. You're right, there should have been an option to retain the old format instead of foisting this rivision on us with no input

So far this is what I have found wrong with the new portfolio:
1) stock quotes do not update automatically or periodically.
2) there is no news listed or option to go to charts
3) The order of the stocks is alphabetical ... I want my most important stocks on top.
4) My old columns were not retained. Customized columns do not work (at least don't with firefox) ... (stock values are all zero)
5) To get to any useful data you need to go to http://investing.quicken.com/portfolio/performance.asp?name=Your%20Portfolio and select "Todays Prices". The old link does not work.
6) Every time you refresh the page you need to select "Todays Prices" again because it does not retain you last setting as any good program would.

Hello Kathryn,
I'm happy you are happy but I'm sure by now you know Quicken has left behind many unhappy users of Quicken.com portfolio services.
Below is a slightly revised post I made to another forum before I found yours. Quicken has, I think, way out done themselves with this revision and they should take all these comments seriously.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks like what we see now is what we get. I can surly echo all the other comments about this (upgrade?). We need the old site back.
1. What we had was a very readable one page view of all our portfolios with different views available.
2. We could also have a customize the view, and customize the placement of columns, data and securities.
3. Editing these portfolios was was very convenient and easily done on one page. It was fast and without script errors that threatened to freeze your system. The edit view for each security is however a nice touch and about the only plus on the new site.
I had to give up a weekend just to update and edit my portfolios, even if much of that time was spent fuming over why Quicken would put us through this. For what?
4. The one page editing view was also a nice snapshot of where and when we began with the portfolio and each security in it.
5. Printing out and saving all this data was quickly and easily accomplished.
These are the some of the functions and features that made the Quicken site stand out from the others. Now we have lost all that functionality. Why? What were they thinking?
I have already sent a few feedback comments to the quicken.com site but without any comment back.
Quicken HAD by far the best online portfolio management site so why did they choose to break it in favor of something much inferior, even to other sites on the web.
If something is not broken why try to fix it? If it can be improved fine but don't break what already works so well.
Also, why did they not put out a beta version prior to dumping a major revision on us without warning and do it with a take it or leave it attitude.
I am sure most users of this site are also users of Quicken financial and tax software programs.
IF QUICKEN/INTUIT DOES NOT TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND PROMPTLY RESPOND TO IT MANY OF THESE CUSTOMERS WILL QUICKLY MIGRATE TO OTHER SITES AND SOFTWARE.
I for one am reluctantly starting that now, and will elevate my sentiments to the corporate level if Quicken does not promptly respond.
This issue goes to the hart of customer service and corporate attitude.
This site upgrade will give Quicken software users serious pause when it comes to upgrading to a new edition.
After this site revision I'm afraid to think what Quicken 2009 will bring. My 2006 edition will expire and I know I have to find a substitute. Perhaps the expected mass exodus from Quicken will spur developers to fill the void. Yahoo comes to mind but I'm sure there are others. Quicken could quickly flame out.
Any major revision to a web site or software ideally should allow users the time and option to transition to the new or remain with the old, at least in so far as entering, reading and editing standard data.
This site upgrade demands users to adapt and learn a new way of doing things. That would be OK if the time spent doing that resulted in a better product and better productivity.
That is not the case with this site revision. We have lost much and end up with what aypraty posted - a duplicate of what we get from broker web sites. So who needs Quicken? I am afraid the same may be true with new editions of their software. That is why I am beginning to look elsewhere.
No one has the time to go through this every couple of years and end up with an inferior product.
I can only hope Quicken quickly sees and corrects their error. They need to bring the old site back. Enhance it if needed but don't revise it and definitely don't downgrade it.

Ditto, most ALL the comments left here, although this is not the worst roll out in history, 2nd yes. Apparently no input from users. I can add the ability to sort column.
I was going to upgrade to 2008 version but I am looking into alternatives. Having used this software since DOS v3, it has improved slowly but the ability to not have advertisements, custom tool bars, control over PLACEHOLDERS, ( like NO), etc is making this software to much brain damage for the price or function.
Over the years I have found Intuit less than responsive to the user input. Good Luck!
The "new" Quicken Online suffers from the same type of problems we experienced in the past. Pricing for our Money Market Funds is wrong. Should be simple, they're $1.00. Not so on "improved and updated" Quicken.com.
I agree, "Vanguard Money Market Fund" has a stable
$1.00 NAV and always has. Quicken, is showing the
yield, which as of 8/26/08 is 2.16%, instead of the NAV per share.
So today, your true total is being multiplied 2.16
times. The yield is constantly changing, consequently, your true total is never correct.

In the absence of any response from Intuit, perhaps we should start a new thread "Alternatives to Quicken.com for Quicken users", exploring the easiest sites for export from Quicken. We could also have a thread "Best Software / Site alternatives to Quicken and Quicken.com".
After all, we're all looking for a software/site combination that, combined, gives us the most utility.

Hello All,
As you know, we have launched a new Quicken.com Investing Portfolio. The website has been totally redesigned to provide a higher level of service and to help you to manage and track your investments with powerful new tools.
We are rolling out new features over the next several weeks including Quicken portfolio export the week of Sept. 8th and asset and sector allocation in early October. Please keep checking back to experience all of the new functionality.
We also want to thank the many users that have posted their suggestions about how to improve the new website. We have heard you, and we are working to incorporate customer feedback as quickly as possible. We will be providing ongoing updates to our progress as we continue to improve the product.
We certainly understand that many users are disappointed that some features have been discontinued from the old website. We were forced to make the difficult decision to cut some features so that we could more deeply address the core task of managing investments.
We sincerely appreciate that you have chosen to use our product, and we are doing everything we can to address your needs as quickly as possible.
