I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.
If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here. This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--
Thanks--
Quicken Kathryn

I fell for the hype that it was fixed and used the Quicken Update last night. The errors are less, but still there - SAI came in at about 100 times its value, and CBS A still can't be found. These are just two examples. Realizing I had been had, I imported my quotes from NetStock and moved on about my business.
One lesson I have learned from the latest Quicken download fiasco - always back-up your qph file before updating historical prices or quotes. Then, if the download corrupts your price histories, it is simple to delete the incorrect file in its entirety and restore the old qph file.
I have created a batch file that just copies my qph file to a different folder and added a shortcut on my desktop to run the batch file. Now, before running Quicken I just double-click my shortcut, and I have a safe copy of my qph file ready to restore, if necessary. It is easier than restoring my qph file from my full drive backup and a whole lot easier than trying to rebuild a 23MB qph file from scratch.

I have been a Quicken customer for years. I trusted them with all my financial information. I spent years manually updating all my transactions. With one glance I was able to get the total net worth of all my brokerage account holdings in my online portfolio. Not only was my quicken portfolio bookmarked, but it had earned the high honor of sitting on my toolbar. This was a feature I used several times a day. Not only is the new site not working, I don't even know if my transaction information is right. I am going to have to get out all my brokerage account notebooks and check each transaction to see if the information is still correct. Unbelievably . . we have some stocks going back to 1985 that have had splits, reverse splits, spinoffs, and name changes more than once. I printed out the transaction information in my "new" portfolios at Quicken and entered all 200 transactions in one portfolio at Yahoo. I am now able to see the total gain or loss for the day and overall at Yahoo, but I am still going to have to check and make sure that all my transaction information is still correct. If Quicken can get their act together and give us back our online portfolio I will definitely continue to use it, but I will keep my backup at Yahoo!

For what it's worth I'm current and up to date on prices using Schwab.com for the pricing/sales/purchase data. Occasionally I use the Quicken "update prices and history" and still am OK. No reason, but thankfully so.
Why not try your own broker's data and forget the Quicken data if that's the problem?

Hi Ben -
I understand from the office of the president that you are one of the product managers dealing with the Quotes download issue.
I am an experienced user and have been using the product since 2001. I have been back and forth with India support for the last couple of weeks.
Regardless of the e-mail and workarounds they have put out, NOTHING is working at this point.
I have wasted countless hours trying their suggestions and they really don't get it. Very frustrating. In fact they put out an e-maail today indicating that it was fixed. I ran a test and I am here to tell you that it isn't fixed! I know what I am talking about as I run this EVERY DAY. I know what to expect and how it behaves.
f you could please provide me a mechanism as to get an idea when the new server would be operational, I would appreciate it.

It look like as of now the problem MAY be fixed (I am using QUicken 2009).
While it will fix back up to 4 days before today, it will leave a few days before that with invalid prices. These may be ignored or deleted, but it's a paiful process one at a time.

I suggest that we all go on Amazon.com, Newegg, Circuit City and other online sites and give reviews on Quicken.
Good idea. Here is what I posted
I agree concerning the corrupt stock quotes fiasco. I am having major problems with Quicken 2006 and from the hundreds of complaints on the Quicken community forum, this must affect all versions of Quicken. The portfolio feature worked fine until they "upgraded" (actually downgraded) the on-line portfolio service at Quicken.com. Now you can no longer see all of your accounts on one page, and also a large percentage of the quotes are wrong. This has been going on for weeks with no apologies from Quicken. We have asked Quicken to restore the old service which worked fine most of the time, and they refuse to do so. They have no concept of beta testing, and reassure us that they are making every effort to resolve the problem, but there is no evidence that they understand how much damage they are doing to people who rely on good data for investing decisions.

Wow.... I have always viewed you as pro-QW.
Nice to see that you are as fed up with Intuit's 'meddling', as damn near everyone.... everyone else, but those that work at Intuit.....
I look forward to an open-source finance program..... I think that we, as folks that care about function, rather than profit.... could actually build a great program. I would really like to Quicken killed. It has been such a pain, for so many years...... 'They' do not care about us, once the 'check clears'............

Quicken 2009 actually.
I have stopped the downloading of historical prices until this is fixed.
If I have to go through all my stocks each day to see if the prices are correct, I'd just as soon enter the current price and not have to check and fix several previous prices.

As of 3:50 central time I am still unable to log into the online Quicken Portfolio. I keep getting an error message of "Either User does not exist or password verification has failed" I have been using the same User ID and password for years without a problem until now. What needs to be done to correct the problem? I tried to re-register and it said the user ID was already in use, so obviously the User ID is still valid.

Hi All,
We have deployed the fix for the issue where prices were being corrupted to the production servers. We believe this should take care of the corrputed prices. None of us are able to duplicate the issue any longer on our side.
In addition we fixed another bug where the 7 day yield was being downloaded as the high and low for Money Market securities.
Issues that we are still working on.
1. We are working to resolve tickers such as ABN-G or BRK.A not downloading the current quote.
2. We found an issue where prices are being downloaded for 9/1/08 when doing a historical quotes download. Quicken does a historical quotes download when you click Download Historical Quotes from Portfolio View or have more than 30 days of missing price history data.
Please let us know if you are running into any issues.

I am a beta tester for 2009 and am running 2007 and 2009 parallel on two computers. If, as stated, the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. In spite of the fact the the securities list and symbols are an exact match 2009 fails to download about 40% of the quotes downloaded by 2007. Since the beta test period is over I thought someone(are you there Quicken Kathryn?) should look into this immediately before millions of potentially faulty copies are shipped to the stores.

It looks like the problem with current quotes not downloading was a temporary while the fix was installed. Check of some closing proices look ok.
DFS and TEL now correct lookup.
RDS.a Royal Dutch Shell found on line, but not Quicken d/l
Another category with quote problems is Prefferred Stocks: some samples are: FRPRJ, MTBPRA, PSAPRM (I have more)
I assume the problem with Prices d/l with investments that have no quotes (E.g. Bond) not being inserted into Quotes file is a program problem. IS a fix in the works? Worked in 2007, but not 2009

Hi Bill,
I want to be sure I understand the problem right. You own bonds in a brokerage account (Some FI) and are downloading transaction data each day or so. The bond price is not being populated to the price history list for your bond. Is this correct?
I enter my User ID and password and click on Sign In. Beneath the password box I then get:
"Either User does not exist or password verification has failed" in red lettering.
I have used the same User ID and password, so didn't forget it as I have used for 5+ years I have not changed it or re-registered for the "new" site. I went to re-register, thinking that may be needed, but was told my user ID was already in use so figured re-registering wasn't needed.
If I click the "Forgot your password" link It takes me to the change password screen and show my screen name, but a blank for the Security Question. I don't know that I ever set up a security question, and definately don't know the answer without knowing what the question is.When I guess what the Security Question may be, and obviously guess wrong, it gives a red message of "Security Answer does not match with that in our database"

I tried to duplicate CAH. I can't duplicate the invalid prices after deleting and downloading prices 5 times in about 5 minutes.
The one thing I am seeing is that it is downloading only today's quote. I sent this over to the engineering team.
One way around this is to remove the invalid prices you have for CAH and then use the "Download Historial" quotes button in the Portflio View to download hitorical quotes for the last month. The missing quotes will be filled in.
