Hello All,

I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete.  This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.

If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here.  This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--

Thanks--

Quicken Kathryn

My suggestion:

Try reading the ENTIRE thread from the beginning.

You think you are the only one unhappy with the "new" quicken.com?

Completing your user profile to include the Quicken version/year and Windows operating system helps others troubleshoot your problem.

You should only floss the teeth you want to keep!

Currently using Quicken 2009 Rental Property Manager R5.

As of 9:30pm EST on 9/3 the quote situation is back to "really messed up" state. Huge swings in "day gains/losses" that exceed portfolio value.
Quicken has a big problem.
They will fix it.
Note that "todays price" is likely accurate.
The "one step update" also updates the pevious 4-5 days prices and, right now, prior day prices are really messed up.

Hi Bill, I want to be sure I understand the problem right. You own bonds in a brokerage account (Some FI) and are downloading transaction data each day or so. The bond price is not being populated to the price history list for your bond. Is this correct? Thanks, Dale
(Actually Quicken Premier 2009)

Dale,

I am having the same problem. Since updating to Quicken 2009, bond prices are not being populated to the price history when I download daily transactions from my brokerage accounts.

Actually 2009, but not slection for that. Please. please turn off quotes until fixed. Every haywire download destroys hours of removing erroneous quotes.
Suggest you make a backup copy of your qph file before you download quotes or historical prices. Then, if the download is bad (as it has been since 8/21), you can delete the corrupt qph file and restore the copy you made. You won't need to remove erroneous information.

Nothing has changed. All the same problems with downloads. Still fails to find some securities. Am a 10+ year Quicken and Quickbooks user. This issue and the inability to resolve it in a timely manner has greatly shaken my confidence in the product.

I don't know what is supposed to be working and what is still broken. Quicken folks appear to be keeping us in the dark.

All I know is that One-step update doesn't work as of 9/3/2008 11pm EST.
My Online Price Alerts shows assets I don't even or ever had.

    This is really messed up.

Can anyone let me know what is supposed to be working as far as alerts via Online or One_Step update?

I'm still getting this when trying to set new alerts from Quicken.

I thought this was supposed to be fixed on 9/3, even though the message say 8/18 (which Quicken said they couldn't fix because some server was down).

Does anyone know when Customize Alert from Quicken will be working again?

The system is complete? Are you kidding me?
Ever since the upgrade was begun on or around Aug 18th the portfolio view has been screwed up. One of my portfolio's actually show a value of over $180,000 more than what it truly is.
I have made sure to get up to date quotes through my Quicken software but when I export the information to the new Quicken.com site, it shows completely wrong info. It doesnt even show my holdings in Walmart (WMT)

Until yesterday it was showing at least the investment holdings and daily changes but as of yesterday even that is gone.

I am so glad that the entire community was elected to be your beta testers. Is your next step going to be to ask us all to stick a pencil in our eye, just for your entertainment?

Regarding loosing money... Who knows !

Basically, I am in the dark for the last week. I believe that I have missed some opportunities, but probably have not lost any money... but the problem is who knows. I don't have the data !!!

My portfolio is too extensive to track manually..

    - it took me 45 minutes last night to manually update all of my prices... but I cant look at a trend for the past week

I depend on Quicken as the key tool in my personal financial management. My friends tell me I am way too obsesive... but Quicken has made me this way !!

It is more than just a record keeping tool. If I cant use the features I have grown to depend on, I have to begin looking elsewhere. Does anybody have experience with MS Money?

I am trying to be patient.

What is the update today? What is the plan ? Can you give us a date of the fix?

To me, patching in different files, importing different files, etc from some 3rd party is not the answer. I need the program to work like it supposed to!

    Dale,

While you are passing on comments to the engineers, I would appreciate your looking into a longstanding problem. On days when thinly traded securities have zero volume Quicken assign a zero market value. This really skews portfolio values for that day.

    Thanks,

    Gammaman

Here's a reply from Quicken support regarding Customize Price Alerts feature in Quicken.
Apparently all the broken features will be fixed in Sep/Oct timeframe now.  Project drift?
Also, if I understand correctly from below, it appears they are going to bring back the one screen view of the Portfolio. Is that the way you read it?
Quicken's support responses are so ambiguous.

"I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

    I
would like to inform you that the ability to view the entire Portfolio
will be coming soon. Also the tools that are missing will be available
    in Sept/Oct timeframe .

The migration to the new portfolio
system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006,
2007 and 2008.The link for the update is http://www.quickencommunity.com/webx/Forums/Quicken%20Personal%20Finance%20Software%20Forum%20for%20Windows/Investments%20in%20Quicken/4214/258"

I ran a one-step update this morning and the stock prices appear correct back to 8/21.

I had the same garbage that others reported since 8/21. A few days ago I deleted the garbage for about 50 securities and ran a "download historical prices" which repopulated the days with good data. However, after running a "download quotes" the garbage was back.

So, the fact that this mornings data appears to be good is a good sign. Anyone else have good news ?

    More info from support.
I have to admit that they are being responsive but sometimes it takes several questions to get them to provide explicit info.

Here is a link that may help describe features that are broken:
    https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/quicken.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3848

There is a way to "subscribe" to current updates.

I think the following would be true,

    1. Download Quotes (Today and the last 4 days should be correct.

    2. Anything from the 21 - 5 days ago will be wrong, you would have to mannually delete them (or ignore them)

    3. Going forward should be ok.

    4. To get missing ones, Download Historical for 1 month

    5. Start over again with new .QPH file

    6. Go to a backup that is good and re downnload.

In any case backup before downloading quotes until you are confident their system have stabilized.

I just tried One Step Update and it would appear that my historical prices are populated appropriately the prices loaded for all of last week and closing prices are correct (match what I manually entered last evening).

    Yea for now.

Has anybody else found this to be true? I have to head off to work soon, just curious if it fixed or if it is a fluke.

If it is fixed, congratulations !!! If not, please post an update.

On September 2nd Ben Weiss, Quicken Product Manager said:
"First of all, I want to thank everyone in the Quicken community who has been pointing out issues with the new Quicken.com Investing Portfolio and quotes. We sincerely regret the problems that our customers have faced, and we are doing everything we can to address those issues as quickly as possible. This message is to provide an update on the status of those initiatives.

    Quotes
Many users have reported problems with specific historic quotes. We have some good leads, and we are optimistic that we should have a fix in the next 1-2 days. We consider this our #1 priority.

    Regards,

    Ben Weiss
    Quicken Product Manager"

First of all let's get this correct. We are ALL having a problem with quote updates for ALL quotes for stocks and mutual funds and not just for historical quotes. It is random as to which ones are wrong but the problem is not for "specific historic quotes". Even the day the quotes are shown for are wrong. Knievel even said that there are quotes for showing up for Monday when the market was closed for Labor Day. My quotes for last week were off by a day - Friday's numbers show as Saturday, Thursday's numbers show for Friday etc.

I was a Product Manager for 15 years and I did not have line authority over the engineering staff. When I had serious product problems it was necessary to get senior management involved to get all organizations engaged in solving the problem. I want to know if this has been escalated to senior management, how many people are working on the problem, did people work over the Labor Day weekend, can, when will the problem be solved, and we go back to the old system until the problem is solved?

I get the sense from the few posts that we see from Intuit employees that this problem is not being taken as seriously as it should be. This problem could have serious consequences to Intuit sales and stock prices. Because of the impact that this problem is having on our ability to manage our investments regarding buy and sell decisions we are losing money and this could reach the point of the members of this forum getting together in a class action suit!

As you can tell from the posts on this forum people are getting angry and Intuit had better get their act together.

I appears that all, repeat all of the problems are with preferred stocka and bonds. Same problem a few years ago and it had to do with the incompatable way Quicken handles the symbols as compared to the markets.I have spent hours trying to get the symbols correct so Quicken will recognize the stocka only to see it now revert back to it's old ways.
    Examples
    Quicken Market Symbol
    PL PRS PLPRS
    RBS PRR RBSPRR
    RBS PRN RBSPRN
    BAC PRB BACPRB
    BXS-A BXSPRA
    BCS-A BCSPRA
    C-P CPRP
    C-Z CPRZ
    C-F CPRF
    C-U CPRU
    DRE PRO DREPRO
    FPC-A FPCPRA
    KEY PRB KEYPRB
    LEH-K LEHPRK
    MER PRQ MERPRQ
    PUK PR PUKPR
    PSA-M PSAPRM
    PSA-K PSAPRK
    REG PRD REGPRD
    WB-S WBPRS
These are all preferred stocks. This has historically been a problem with quicked. As you can see there is not consistancy with the symbols used.
See this link which explains the confusion very well:

This has gone on long enough. Aprest, may I post your comment #361 to amazon.com and other web sites that review products and let the world know how Quicken refuses to listen to customers? We have given them several weeks to bring back the old system until the new one is fixed and they have refused to do so.

Please do not post it anywhere.

Let's give them a few more days. I just tried downloading quotes (after backing everything up) and it worked correctly and even corrected my screwed up quotes that had quotes on Saturday that should have shown up as on Friday.

Let's hope that it is stable.

I own no preferred stock! Yet my prices were screwed up, mis-matched, etc.

But it does appear that it is fixed, for now

Posting the problem on Amazon, etc does not help!!! It only serves to decrease confidence in people who might purchase Quicken products in the future.

Think about the most likely business model with this company. Without those revenues from current and future sales, there would be no $$ for support.

Dissing the product in other forums only hurts Intuit's financial strength.

I do not invest in Intuit, but certainly like the product and depend on it. I want to be certain there is enough $$ for support.

    Just my humble opinion.
