I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete. This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.
If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here. This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--
Thanks--
Quicken Kathryn

Dale,
While you are passing on comments to the engineers, I would appreciate your looking into a longstanding problem. On days when thinly traded securities have zero volume Quicken assign a zero market value. This really skews portfolio values for that day.

Here's a reply from Quicken support regarding Customize Price Alerts feature in Quicken. Apparently all the broken features will be fixed in Sep/Oct timeframe now. Project drift? Also, if I understand correctly from below, it appears they are going to bring back the one screen view of the Portfolio. Is that the way you read it? Quicken's support responses are so ambiguous.
"I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
I
would like to inform you that the ability to view the entire Portfolio
will be coming soon. Also the tools that are missing will be available
in Sept/Oct timeframe .

I ran a one-step update this morning and the stock prices appear correct back to 8/21.
I had the same garbage that others reported since 8/21. A few days ago I deleted the garbage for about 50 securities and ran a "download historical prices" which repopulated the days with good data. However, after running a "download quotes" the garbage was back.
So, the fact that this mornings data appears to be good is a good sign. Anyone else have good news ?

I just tried One Step Update and it would appear that my historical prices are populated appropriately the prices loaded for all of last week and closing prices are correct (match what I manually entered last evening).
Yea for now.
Has anybody else found this to be true? I have to head off to work soon, just curious if it fixed or if it is a fluke.
If it is fixed, congratulations !!! If not, please post an update.

This message is to provide an update on the status of those initiatives.

Many users have reported problems with specific historic quotes. We have some good leads, and we are optimistic that we should have a fix in the next 1-2 days. We consider this our #1 priority.

First of all let's get this correct. We are ALL having a problem with quote updates for ALL quotes for stocks and mutual funds and not just for historical quotes. It is random as to which ones are wrong but the problem is not for "specific historic quotes". Even the day the quotes are shown for are wrong. Knievel even said that there are quotes for showing up for Monday when the market was closed for Labor Day. My quotes for last week were off by a day - Friday's numbers show as Saturday, Thursday's numbers show for Friday etc.
I was a Product Manager for 15 years and I did not have line authority over the engineering staff. When I had serious product problems it was necessary to get senior management involved to get all organizations engaged in solving the problem. I want to know if this has been escalated to senior management, how many people are working on the problem, did people work over the Labor Day weekend, can, when will the problem be solved, and we go back to the old system until the problem is solved?
I get the sense from the few posts that we see from Intuit employees that this problem is not being taken as seriously as it should be. This problem could have serious consequences to Intuit sales and stock prices. Because of the impact that this problem is having on our ability to manage our investments regarding buy and sell decisions we are losing money and this could reach the point of the members of this forum getting together in a class action suit!
As you can tell from the posts on this forum people are getting angry and Intuit had better get their act together.

I appears that all, repeat all of the problems are with preferred stocka and bonds. Same problem a few years ago and it had to do with the incompatable way Quicken handles the symbols as compared to the markets.I have spent hours trying to get the symbols correct so Quicken will recognize the stocka only to see it now revert back to it's old ways.
Examples
Quicken Market Symbol
PL PRS PLPRS
RBS PRR RBSPRR
RBS PRN RBSPRN
BAC PRB BACPRB
BXS-A BXSPRA
BCS-A BCSPRA
C-P CPRP
C-Z CPRZ
C-F CPRF
C-U CPRU
DRE PRO DREPRO
FPC-A FPCPRA
KEY PRB KEYPRB
LEH-K LEHPRK
MER PRQ MERPRQ
PUK PR PUKPR
PSA-M PSAPRM
PSA-K PSAPRK
REG PRD REGPRD
WB-S WBPRS
These are all preferred stocks. This has historically been a problem with quicked. As you can see there is not consistancy with the symbols used.
See this link which explains the confusion very well: http://www.quantumonline.com/PfdSymbolsNames.cfm

This has gone on long enough. Aprest, may I post your comment #361 to amazon.com and other web sites that review products and let the world know how Quicken refuses to listen to customers? We have given them several weeks to bring back the old system until the new one is fixed and they have refused to do so.

Please do not post it anywhere.
Let's give them a few more days. I just tried downloading quotes (after backing everything up) and it worked correctly and even corrected my screwed up quotes that had quotes on Saturday that should have shown up as on Friday.
Posting the problem on Amazon, etc does not help!!! It only serves to decrease confidence in people who might purchase Quicken products in the future.
The above sentiment is true but I would also say that as people on this earth together we have a responsibility to help our fellow man. We don't do that by spewing non-constructive venomous hate mongering for a product but posting constructive FYI's should not be considered a bad thing.
Letting others know that it is a great product but that it is currently having some technical issues isn't irresponsible or venomous. Rather, it is helping your fellow man make a fair, educated decision before plunking down a decent amount of change on software that may very well turn him off so bad that he refuses to EVER buy the product again. That is how you hurt sales in the long-term.
On the other hand, if this person sees reviews that state what a great program it has been for X amount of years that you or I have owned it but they are having some issues with a recent upgrade/patch, etc, then they might say, OK, well, let me wait a few months until they work the bug out and then buy. At which time, one would assume, he is then purchasing a better product and becoming a longterm quicken user like me (user since 2000) or you.

Hi Dale,
Reference msg's 303 & 313
I posted a reply to your questions yesterday. It says fred111 replied to it. His reply is an error as has nothing to do with my issue. I just wanted to make sure you did not overlook my post thinking someone else had solved the problem.
As of right now I am still getting the error msg when trying to log in online to my portfolio (screenshot attached)
With One Step Update, it still says the database is read only.
I am using Quicken 2008 Deluxe and have not changed my portfolio user id or password since initially set up probably 5 or more years ago.

The problem is that they pushed out 2009 without a complete beta to a number of people who have portfolios. I volunteered and was never asked. So, fine, but the rush to get it out was meaningless since MS announced there were no longer issuing annual updates and there would be none this year. So, there was no race to get the product out. If you are late fixing the quality of the product so be it. But something went wrong. Even on the 2008, mileage data changed on 1 Jul and update was promised by mid August and when I upgraded to 2009 in late August, still no mileage data update. So what has been going on. If you are going to change methodologies thoroughly test it before selling to the public at quite high prices for upgrades. $10 off for a user who has been using the system for 15 years. Not much. Now we have a severe problem with a promise by mid Oct. But since I saw the promise for mileage updates for mid August fail, I have not faith in mid October for Stock issues fix. Now my decision is up in the air, I probably have two choices.
1. Go back to 2008 and that might not solve this stock issue at all.
2. Finally after all these years find another financial management software I can trust.
3. Sit here and wait and have to tons of work each day to follow the market because I don't trust the numbers I get.

WHO is running the show at Intuit? Quotes are not coming in with Quicken and Historical prices are not updating at all, I get yesterdays prices for today, when that was working yesterday and I could at least see my gains and losses. If you click on a stock in Quicken Portfolio and choose quote all you get it the Intuit symbol stock quote.

When running one step update I get error saying Quicken database is read only - try again later.
Additionally current portfolio has inaccurate numbers. Is there a time frame for a fix?
In any case backup before downloading quotes until you are confident their system have stabilized.
Bill_G:
I would make one change to your very good advice, to wit,
6. Backup your qph file every day before downloading quotes or historical prices, because you never know when Intuit will "upgrade" your program or the Quicken servers and mess up everything again. It is much easier to restore a good backup than to rebuild a qph file with bad data.

This is excellent advice. I just finished corecting my prices manually from August 20 until today from various sources. It took about 5 hours out of my busy day.

3 issues.
1 I can't update my portfolio on quicken.
2. I can't see my entire portfolio on quicken at one time.
3. Why not reload the old quicken until the new beta is truly debugged? I was happy with the "old" version
The Customer Support on the "new and improved" quicken online is horrible. Seems the strategy is to keep the users the dark and not address the issues up front. I attemped to use the chat feature today and found that the technican attempted to gloss over the problem and after 45 minutes just said he was sorry for my in convenience. Give me a break!!!

But Kathryn, you haven't even answered the question for 2009 which you have put up for sale. This community response doesn't even given you that option. What is the projection for the 2009 you are selling?
