Ben wrote: We certainly understand that many users are disappointed that some features have been discontinued from the old website. We were forced to make the difficult decision to cut some features so that we could more deeply address the core task of managing investments.
I appreciate the response Ben, but I'm not sure what could be more important to the core task of managing investments than being able to see all of one's investments, watchlists and their performance at a glance. And I don't understand why they had to be cut rather than added to. Rather than redesigning the site, why not just add a link or two to new features. That's a value added approach, rather than the either/or approach that's alienated so many loyal users.
Furthermore, besides the portfolio, I used the One-click scorecard and Evaluator on a regular basis. Not only is there no longer a direct link to these from the portfolio page, one of the best features of the Evaluator is gone - the numeric chart accompanying the graphs. I'd use the numbers to quickly measure detailed year-over-year performance (i.e. percentage change), which is crucial for seasonal businesses. Graphs are pretty and quick, but they are not something I'd consider a "core" to managing investments. That requires numbers. Even so, despite the reliance solely on graphs, the graphs have been made far smaller and thus more difficult to discern nuances in their data. Rather than a "less is more" approach, it seems to be a "less is less" approach.
As for the One-click Scorecard, I found my single best investment of all time searching the Strong Interest stocks of the Foolish 8 portfolio (Sun Hydraulics). The Foolish 8 is now gone.
I am a serious investor who puts a lot of time into managing them, including reading SEC filings, listening to quarterly conference calls and the like. It's serious business, so I am always looking for better ways to manage my investments. If I felt your update helped in that regard, I'd be singing your praises. Instead, I think you've put yourselves behind the 8-ball, and unless the future enhancements come quickly and are a flat-out home run, I'm afraid Quicken has made a serious tactical and strategic error. The only comfort you might be able to take is that all of us posting here feel strongly enough about what you used to have that we are taking the time to vent in hopes of its return. Please don't blow it.

Please see my comments in the thread "New Quicken online" How would you feel if you bought a new car, and after getting used to convenient features, then have a mechanic sneak into your garage one night and change the automatic transmission to manual and disable your radio without your knowledge or permission. You get into your car the next morning and you want to scream!

I now find I can get into the site by either address. However this new style is no where as usable as the old. I also find that the ability to get daily values historical data is not to be found. I do not and never did download or upload data. I JUST WANT TO FOLLOW MY CURRENT LISTINGS. PLEASE RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL. THIS NEW SYSTEM IS USELESS. I HAVE DATA BACK TO 1993 IN QUICKEN. CAN NOT GIVE IT UP.

I understand your position on this.
I, too, have held my investments in Quicken since the first Quicken came out. (I used Andrew Tobias' Managing your Money before that). I have used every version of Quicken, and Quickbooks since that time whether for me, my clients, or my company.
Why does Intuit want to upset us so bad? I may feel like I am being held captive, but with Morningstar portfolio's as my "interim strategy", I am now going to look at MS Money. God, what a bother.
And, this is costing me money, because the Intuit one-screen-shows-all allowed me to make some dynamic decisions, that it is hard to do now.

Do any of you remember the Turbo Tax fiasco a few years back?. That year, Intuit decided to require each copy of TT be activated on the computer on which it was installed. It could only be installed on one computer. This change caused an uproar and the next year Intuit dropped the activation scheme. A friend of mine who was a long time TT user got so mad he moved to Tax Cut and never came back.
This quicken.com change is at least a bad and it will be interesting to see if Intuit responds like it did with TT.
That said, has anyone thought of a viable alternative? Since the portfolio page in Quicken can be exported to Excel, are there any websites where such Excel data can be imported?
For at least 10 years, I have come to totally rely on the old quicken.com to see how my investments are doing during the day and this change has made that totally useless.
How about Money? Are Money users able to upload their portfolios and view them online? If so, then Money suddenly becomes a viable alternative.

Ben
I would like to see one of those suggestions on how to improve the website. My experience with Intuit is that they listen to no one. I have been tracking my investments using Quicken.com investing portfolio for 8 years. It was the best, now it’s the worst. I would never download/upload any of my quicken data to my investing portfolio. I only download in to quicken from my brokerage account. With the money Intuit spent on the new improved website they could have given Quicken primer 2009 to everyone as a free upgrade.

I thot I had posted my displeasure to this thread already, but do not see one here. I echo the complaints about the reduced capabilities, functionality and ease of use. The worst loss in this de-improvement has been the ability to view all portfolios at one glance. No matter how many other "improvements" are introduced, they will not make up for this one loss. It is sort of like taking the eyes away from some person and then giving them a camera.
Personally, I could care less what other features and analysis tools they try to include. I have used charts and historical prices and a few other features but little analysis type stuff.
I am amused by the Quicken company buffoons who are the only ones saying what a great improvement this amputation of the most useful Quicken tools is. All it has done is simplified maintenance on the program.
No doubt, the all on one page view has been very difficult to maintain, but my suspician, as registered on another thread, is that Intuit will eventually resurrect the "Old Quicken" and offer it only thru the online service which would cost us about three times as much as our three-year versions.
If not, I wonder if they would sell that no longer used code to some entrepreneurial type person out there who could then set up a web-site with it. It might be a good investment.
I started a thread where people can post what they are migrating to as alternatives. I have begun moving my stuff to Morningstar which offers some similar views and columns and is somewhat easy to edit, especially in their beta version. However, I have not been able to display all portfolios on one page. If you are in to it (pun), they have more analysis features. Now there's someone who cares what customers want when they will put out a beta version before any major changes. Yahoo, of course, still has the ability to emulate Quicken column orders, but is a real bear to edit.
If Intuit was really interested in serving customers, they would have set up a beta version and learned quickly that it was unacceptable. The fact that they didn't, suggests that they didn't really care. This is being crammed down our throats and I suspect it will not take long to eliminate it as what comes out the other end.

Still am not able to do updates to my quicken.com portfolio. Is 9/3 still a good date? Hopefully, we will get the ability back to look at our entire portfolio at one time!. At one time we had the ability to toggle up and down through the columns, for instance, to see which one of our mutual funds was performing better ytd by clicking on the column. That was taken away from us sometime ago. Are the people working on the new version able to do something like that again with this update?

Appreciate the feedback Ben. Would like to know when we can upload and update our portfolios. I guess it's still in read only mode? Hopefully we will get the feature back of being able to see our whole portfolio at once. Sometime ago, we had the feature of being able to toggle & sort on the columns (highest and lowest)to see which one of our funds were doing better. Would that be able to be reinstated in this new upgrade? So far, this has been very disappointing, especially not being able to update information to our portfolios from Quicken. The customization of the columns leaves much to be desired as we can only add 7 columns where before we could add alot more.

Running Quicken Rental Property Manager 2009 and historic quotes for my mutual funds for 8/21 through 8/26 are all incorrect, making today's (8/27) slight market gain seem like a monumental jump and an incredible daily gain.
Seems like Quicken is having problems, YET AGAIN, with the quotes server...this time it's the historic quotes.
Pathetic...as they can't seem to get their act together.
After promising a new quotes server, this one appears to be as bad or worse as the last.
And don't even get me going on that garbage they call the "new" quicken.com. How is this an upgrade to the last itteration? It's a downgrade, plain and simple.
Nice job Intuit...you managed to screw things up once again.
PS I just notice that historic quotes are NOT provided by Iverson in Q2009. So, whatever the "new" historic qoutes server is, it's not working.

Echoing previous comments. The one page, view all accounts, needs to be reinstated. I too have put any possible upgrade to Quicken 2009 on hold.
Has anyone tried the Yodlee account aggregator recently? I used it several years ago and wasn't impressed. I believe it is available from Fidelity to pull in the non-Fidelity sites. Alternate suggestions appreciated.

"I cannot give it up"
Yes you can. I am now surveying Fund Manager, Moneydance, and MS Money.
All can import from Quicken and offer and encourage free free trials before purchase. Just be sure you have a good backup of your transactions before transferring.
All are price competitive with Quicken, and for the first 2, new versions are very reasonable. No more being forced to pay full price for an upgrade which will probably be less functional (like their site upgrade).
I think its Moneydance which guarantees to be bug free.
Believe me there is a life without Quicken. With Quicken's hang tough attitude towards this fiasco we have no choice but to go elsewhere.
Till now we have just been talking amongst ourselves, getting no real response from Quicken as to their intentions regarding the old site. Their silence is LOUD AND CLEAR. They have their own agenda and its not us.
And if their site is not bad enough how about their software which has become so buggy its putting out erroneous data and/or no data. It just keeps getting worse. The Quicken site and software have not only become useless they're dangerous to our financial health.

When I updated my portfolio on quicken.com yesterday it gave me completely unbelievable day change and day gain and gain/loss figures. I changed my portfolio on quick back to six days which even more believable. On 8/21/08 it changed my portfolio market value to $2,164,830. I only wish this was true. This error is not in my program. I had just verified that it was correct. On 8/27/08. My update showed a day change of $-1,432.47 (LOSS). I checked with Charles Schwab. My actual change was $+2,084 (GAIN). There is quite a difference here. I want to know how to correct this. The problem started on the date of the upgrade on your page. I cannot have this market value of over 2 million on 8/21. I believe my CPA and the tax people would frown about this. Please advise me how I can correct this problem

My update last night scrambled my portfolio so bad I thought I had a virus or something critically wrong with my computer. The gains and losses for the day were outrageously wrong!! Not just money markets but also other mutual funds and individual stocks. OK so it looks like others have the same problem but what do we do about it now? I'm afraid to update again until I know it's fixed.
I've been using Quicken since 1994 and this is the first time I've ever posted anything. When guys like me come out of the woodwork this angry with a piece of software Intuit needs to take notice!!!!

And, as typical...the silence is deafening from Quicken/Intuit.
Quicken Kathryn can't give us the time of day to acknowledge that there is a problem, that they are working on it and the approximate date it will be fixed.
No, she's too busy telling us how we should just LOVE the new Quicken.com with all it's disabled crippled features and that Web Entry was removed due to "low customer usage".

Nice PR move Quicken...ignore any problems and put a good spin on other bad moves you make.
I've just about had it with this garbage...actively looking around for something else that has a higher reliabilty with it's product. After all, if I bought something else that was this unreliably bad, I would have switched right off the bat.
Completing your user profile to include the Quicken version/year and Windows operating system helps others troubleshoot your problem.
You should only floss the teeth you want to keep!
Currently using Quicken 2009 Rental Property Manager R5.

It looks like Quicken is back to downloading wrong quotes again. They just can't seem to get it right. I guess you just can't trust the data they provide. Then they deny the problem. Don't know why I continue to use them.
