Hello All,

I’m happy to report that the migration to the new portfolio system is complete.  This new system applies to Quicken Windows 2006, 2007 and 2008.

If you want more information about this transition, or if you are experiencing any issues with the new portfolio, please post them in the thread here.  This will keep all of the issues in one place, which means we can gather and fix them a lot sooner--

Thanks--

Quicken Kathryn

Appreciate the feedback Ben. Would like to know when we can upload and update our portfolios. I guess it's still in read only mode? Hopefully we will get the feature back of being able to see our whole portfolio at once. Sometime ago, we had the feature of being able to toggle & sort on the columns (highest and lowest)to see which one of our funds were doing better. Would that be able to be reinstated in this new upgrade? So far, this has been very disappointing, especially not being able to update information to our portfolios from Quicken. The customization of the columns leaves much to be desired as we can only add 7 columns where before we could add alot more.

Today the calculations on the price downloads went wild and everything is correct under the price, but under the change for the day, it went nuts. Hope they fix this fiasco.

Running Quicken Rental Property Manager 2009 and historic quotes for my mutual funds for 8/21 through 8/26 are all incorrect, making today's (8/27) slight market gain seem like a monumental jump and an incredible daily gain.

Seems like Quicken is having problems, YET AGAIN, with the quotes server...this time it's the historic quotes.

Pathetic...as they can't seem to get their act together.

After promising a new quotes server, this one appears to be as bad or worse as the last.

And don't even get me going on that garbage they call the "new" quicken.com.  How is this an upgrade to the last itteration?  It's a downgrade, plain and simple.

Nice job Intuit...you managed to screw things up once again.

PS I just notice that historic quotes are NOT provided by Iverson in Q2009.  So, whatever the "new" historic qoutes server is, it's not working.

    So, what else is new?

Echoing previous comments. The one page, view all accounts, needs to be reinstated. I too have put any possible upgrade to Quicken 2009 on hold.

Has anyone tried the Yodlee account aggregator recently? I used it several years ago and wasn't impressed. I believe it is available from Fidelity to pull in the non-Fidelity sites. Alternate suggestions appreciated.

    "I cannot give it up"

Yes you can. I am now surveying Fund Manager, Moneydance, and MS Money.

All can import from Quicken and offer and encourage free free trials before purchase. Just be sure you have a good backup of your transactions before transferring.

All are price competitive with Quicken, and for the first 2, new versions are very reasonable. No more being forced to pay full price for an upgrade which will probably be less functional (like their site upgrade).

I think its Moneydance which guarantees to be bug free.

Believe me there is a life without Quicken. With Quicken's hang tough attitude towards this fiasco we have no choice but to go elsewhere.

Till now we have just been talking amongst ourselves, getting no real response from Quicken as to their intentions regarding the old site. Their silence is LOUD AND CLEAR. They have their own agenda and its not us.

And if their site is not bad enough how about their software which has become so buggy its putting out erroneous data and/or no data. It just keeps getting worse. The Quicken site and software have not only become useless they're dangerous to our financial health.

    Its time to move on.

When I updated my portfolio on quicken.com yesterday it gave me completely unbelievable day change and day gain and gain/loss figures. I changed my portfolio on quick back to six days which even more believable. On 8/21/08 it changed my portfolio market value to $2,164,830. I only wish this was true. This error is not in my program. I had just verified that it was correct. On 8/27/08. My update showed a day change of $-1,432.47 (LOSS). I checked with Charles Schwab. My actual change was $+2,084 (GAIN). There is quite a difference here. I want to know how to correct this. The problem started on the date of the upgrade on your page. I cannot have this market value of over 2 million on 8/21. I believe my CPA and the tax people would frown about this. Please advise me how I can correct this problem

Of course, Quicken, in their "great" PR mode, has refused to acknowledge on this forum that there is a problem....yet again.

We were supposed to be spared this after the last quote server debacle months ago.

But no...here we are back in the same situation yet again.

This software and their designers and developers just plain stink!  Why can't they seem to get this right?

No wonder Chris Markley resigned last week.  He probably saw this debcle unfolding and wanted no part of it.

Quicken Kathryn....any response from you regarding this mess?  Approximate date for a fix?

BTW, deleting the wrong historic quotes only works until the next download...where the incorrect prices overwrite those dates yet again.

FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY...to say the least!

My update last night scrambled my portfolio so bad I thought I had a virus or something critically wrong with my computer. The gains and losses for the day were outrageously wrong!! Not just money markets but also other mutual funds and individual stocks. OK so it looks like others have the same problem but what do we do about it now? I'm afraid to update again until I know it's fixed.

I've been using Quicken since 1994 and this is the first time I've ever posted anything. When guys like me come out of the woodwork this angry with a piece of software Intuit needs to take notice!!!!

And, as typical...the silence is deafening from Quicken/Intuit.

Quicken Kathryn can't give us the time of day to acknowledge that there is a problem, that they are working on it and the approximate date it will be fixed.

No, she's too busy telling us how we should just LOVE the new Quicken.com with all it's disabled crippled features and that Web Entry was removed due to "low customer usage".

Nice PR move Quicken...ignore any problems and put a good spin on other bad moves you make.

I've just about had it with this garbage...actively looking around for something else that has a higher reliabilty with it's product.  After all, if I bought something else that was this unreliably bad, I would have switched right off the bat.

Do three things before you do an update

  • make a backup
  • print out a portfolio report subtotaled by account
  • print out a portfolio report listing each security in alphabetical order

This gives you a way to restore,
figure out which accounts have been affected, and after that,
    which securities are doing it.

For now, I am only downloading quotes. I am not attempting to SYNC anything.

It looks like Quicken is back to downloading wrong quotes again. They just can't seem to get it right. I guess you just can't trust the data they provide. Then they deny the problem. Don't know why I continue to use them.

I think I would have three different steps before updating:

    1. Move all your portfolios to a different portfolio tracker.
    2. Resign yourself to idea that Quicken has killed itself.
    3. Having familiarized yourself with your new tracker to where you feel comfortable with it, uninstall Quicking and delete any other fragments.

Actually, I had a discussion going here about alternate portfolio trackers, However, they have attempted to hide it in Community Discussions where nobody ever goes.

On Tuesday, I mailed a hard copy of this blog to Brad Smith (Intuit CEO) to see if he can intervene and change direction of the portfolio team. I have not heard back from him yet. I am hopeful he can get this straightened out... if not I will need to do take Dmarshall's advice.

Many users have indicated that a single portfolio view of all holdings is a critical feature. We absolutely agree, and we are working to expedite this feature as soon as possible. We do not yet have a target date, but I will update the community as soon as we have a solid time line.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback. We appreciate your contribution.

Ben, I'm sure you are a good, well meaning guy trying to do your best in a very difficult situation. Never the less you should get yourself out of the denial phase. Meaning:

    1. There is NO higher level of service.

    2. Any functionality will definitely be new because now there is very little. Everything that made Quicken stand out has been removed. READ the all posts here.

    3. Thanking us for our suggestions and saying Quicken has heard us does not sound real. If they were working to incorporate customer feedback as quickly as possible they would be up front and state EXACTLY what their plan is. They should have done that BEFORE this revision and no one expects them to do that now.

    4. You say Quicken was FORCED to cut SOME? features so that they could more deeply address the core task of managing investments. We are telling you what we need--exactly what Quicken decided we don't need.

They are not listening to us and we find their attitude from the beginning very arrogant.

A change in attitude would be very refreshing. We hope but at this point their silence is telling us not to expect it.

What we need is for the old site, with all its features, real functionality, and ease of use to be restored so we can get back to the "core task of managing our investments".

Trust us when we say that many customers have already left. I know 2 who won't even bother with these forums to complain. The rest are actively looking at alternatives and have at least by now put their portfolios on other sites.

This should be a serious issue for Quicken/Intuit but it appears they have a plan that doesn't include us. That plan better include a plan to acquire a whole new customer base who are new to Quicken.

So Ben, if you really want to help us, and help Quicken, you could start elevating this sorry situation to the corporate level.

With no DEFINITIVE word from Quicken posted on their site clearly stating their full intentions we will all be abandoning Quicken like the sinking ship it is.

Thank you for your time and interest.

This actually applies to 2009 - Just upgraded yesterday and maybe wish that I had not. The historical prices are so screwed up that the portfolio section is essentially worthless. I have sent this to support a couple of different ways but silence thus far.

With all due respect to Ben, the issues in my case do not appear "limited". They are pretty wide-spread and blatent. Also found significant bugs in the 2009 product with matching of downloaded transactions.

Looks like a prematurely released product.

    Ben:

Thanks for joining the discussion. I am pleased to learn Intuit recognizes the IMPORTANCE OF THE SINGLE PAGE VIEW.

OF EQUAL IMPORTANCE IS THE TYPES AND NUMBER OF HEADINGS AVAILABLE IN THE CUSTOMIZATION FEATURE. A limit of 7 customizable columns is not practical. Furthermore MANY of the IMPORTANT headings formerly available for customization are no longer available.

Since Quicken "upgraded" the on-line portfolio, I have begun using both Yahoo Finance and Morningstar Portfolio. Both Yahoo and Morningstar feature a meaningful and a sufficient number of customizable features, which are no longer available with the Quicken on-line portfolio. I like Morningstar the best and will be using it until Quicken improves the recent upgrade.

Quicken had the best on-line portfolio before the upgrade; now, IMHO, you have the worst. I hope Intuit will improve the recent upgrade...my preference is to use the Quicken on-line portfolio - BUT NOT IN THE CURRENT FORMAT.

The core issue we are trying to address with the move is to have a maintainable, reliable platform we can build off of. The old quicken.com site was just that, old, a decade old. We were in a situation where we could not move forward on that platform, or provide the reliable service you should expect.

There were more issues with quotes and portfolio outages than anyone would have liked, but continuing to maintain that old platform was not an option. When we went out to look at alternatives, I think we were as shocked as anyone that the nearly decade old quicken.com portfolio was still ahead of many competitors in features.

We are now on a platform that we can build off of, and off of a platform that was unreliable. The current new quicken.com is the first step towards improved investment functionality. The team is working hard to improve the service and add functionality.

    Ben,

This is HARDLY a limyted problem, but a serious error on the part of Quicken and it's suppliers, and needs to be fixed NOW. IT has corrupted by peortfolio and it's performance numbers. It is NOT a hoistrical Quotes problem, but a problem with the the daily quotes (Which are downloading incorrect information for the days prior to today!
